I went through all hockey games since 1993 and it looks like the ESPN reached the top. Gameplay, puck control, player realistic movements, commentary, on the ice sound, variable game settings.. all this makes the game unforgettable.
Simply the best hockey game i ever played and it remains, even after new load of 06NHL EA's or 2K Sports.
The 2K6 NHL had a good outlook and premises as a 2K5 successor but it became only a low-down double and big disappointment.
Minor gameplay upgrades like call up's and backwards skating with puck are facing the overall gameplay, graphics and sound decadence.

So the message from guy who spend half of his life on the ice. The ESPN NHL 2K5 is "the one".
