i reckon this copies sins of a solar empire and mass affect a bit too much... so i wont like this unless they make it absolutely awesome. Trailer looks a bit boring to me

@leonandov - I wouldn't say it copies from SoaSE since that has more RTS elements.  This is more like Master of Orion which is more management focus.  it's 4x for lazy people! ;)

@leonandov I'm actually playing it now and it doesn't suck.  I'm definitely not saying it's totally original but it's definitely a pretty decent game. :)

Seems like a combination of SOAS Empire and Mass effect. not very original but it could be cool if done right.

Looks like a poor man's Sins of the Solar Empire...

@parkurtommo This kind of storyline goes back so many years... Master of Orion, Star Control, Homeworld, even Dune II seems similar!  So I agree, it feels like a carbon copy of something we've known before.

@parkurtommo really stupid attitude that. not every 4x space game is a poor man's copy of the last successful 4x space game. there's enough room for more than one good game in every genre, and if they take inspiration from eachother, even better.

@Jamoid I agree with what your saying but this looks identical to SOASE. Same story essentially, same illustrated opening scenes, same planet lay out, combat looks similar and even the voice over. If this isn't a poor man's SOASE Ill be very surprised.

@can666 it's turn based, making it more similar to galactic civilizations. also from the little i've seen of it the combat is played more like a rock-paper-scissors sort of thing, not even sure you actually control it, just decide on the ship composition. so really they are about as different as any two random 4x space games. i won't even go into how they look since both seem to use a fairly generic art style, meaning neither is copying the other more than a million other games. as for story, what story? aliens fighting humans fighting other aliens fighting other humans in space?

i was overly harsh in my original comment and i apologise for that, but really the type of attitude people have where for example every open world RPG (often just any RPG at all) is just a shit clone of skyrim is nothing but negative. originality is great, but no creative medium can move forward without the creator taking inspiration from his peers. if we all thought like his comment implies he does then probably 90% of the best games ever made would never exist.

In the future, humanity will take its brand of friendship (i.e.,  hostility) out into the galaxy, take control the resources, and reign supreme over all the other races.  Hopefully we'll be more peaceful by the time we reach that level of development, although peace in space doesn't make for very interesting gameplay.

So it's a crappy Sins of the Solar Empire remake with the backstory of Mass Effect? I'm not sure how I feel about this. Combat looks weak but the planet/star political map looks interesting.
