Well.. for some reason i find myself playing this alot...
Alot of the reviews i have read on this say it is a very unique game.. which it is, i have never played anything like this before!
It all starts as you get a job helping some random girl on her boat trying to get a map of the ocean floor for research purposes and researching the different types of fish in the ocean.
As you progress through the early stages and learn about the creatures in the sea, you will find yourself being asked to help out on littles side missions like taking people on tours of the "Atol" or whatever, by doing these simple little tasks you will get more unlocks, like new outfits, hair styles, a pen... just random things really.
I do have to moan about the fact that no matter where you are on the map you will find that the ocean is endlessly the same... the mundane scenery and fish,
as you swim around you will notice all the rocks look the same and that the coral life is all the same, but it does look good graphicly! you can zoom in on the coral life and see things up close, like little Clown fish or Sea horse`s.
I found the story to this game a bit weird, it all seems straight forward to begin with, your helping a girl out on her boat doing research, but then you find out she cant swim!!!??? (WHY is she on the boat in the first place?)
random... anyway... you will find out through the game the reason for her little moody moments and with out giving too much away it has something to do with the "White Mother".
There are some stunning moments in the game, like the first time you swim into the Abyss and find yourself swimming with pre-historic fish like the Mega Mouth shark or the Six Gill shark... not to mention the first time you realise how puny a human is compared to a Whale Shark or a Sperm Whale... these moments are really good!
As you reveal more of the ocean you might find youself just trying to find the BIG fish or the SCARY fish.. like i did, and there a few out there to find!
In the story you have to find certain artifacts to help the "emo" girl find out about herself and her past.. *zips mouth*
When you find new species of fish or ocean dwelling creatures you can interact with them by poking them or feeding them, you can even take pictures of them, the more you interact with them the more info you will learn about that species, what i found anoying was when i was swimming in the Abyss i would poke or stroke or feed just one type of fish for ages before i`d even learn anything about them.
There is alot to do in the game, i think there could be just a little bit more...
like not every part of the ocean being the same, or there being more species of sea life, maybe whatching a shark for example hunting its prey? just something more true to life!
If you love sea life or wildlife then you will like this game, there is nothing else like it on the market (untill Enless Ocean 2 comes out).
Overall i do like this game but i do find a few bits a bit strange, but i dont let it put me off playing it though!
