Now you're ready to take command. Pick a country and start trading to increase your wealth. Along the way you'll capture ports, make treaties, attack convoys and defend yourself against attackers. Your trade routes to the east will be your main source of income and these are easy to set up but must be protected to be successful.
You build tradeships and warships. You capture ports then hurry to sent tools so you can improve your defenses and keep it from being recaptured. Of course other companies are doing the same and try to drive you out of business.
Battles are a large part of the game. Take control of your ships and line-up your shots for better results or let the ships fire on their own. Battles can take hours to finish. Of course if you're outnumbered...........RUN!!!!!!!!! and save as many of your ships as you can.
You don't have to spend alot of time micro-managing alot of this and alot of that. Keep your forts strong and your fleets trading. Instead of upgrading your ships, you upgrade your captains. His skills are what's important in battles and winning battles add to their skills even more.
Several expansions have been released for under $10 that can add even more content and fun to the game. Play as a pirate or a privateer and rule the seas.
