A side scrolling Shooter/Platformer with tons of Humor. #Real Score 8.3/10#

User Rating: 8 | Earthworm Jim GEN
Back in the 90's there were so many saturday mourning cartoons on TV, but there was this one cartoon which I can remeber I used to watch which was Earthworm Jim, Jim was a worm in a spaceman suit that falls from the sky and lands on a worm and thats how he became Earthworm Jim.
Main story for the game was where Earthworm Jim receives a super suit dropped by Psycrow on the way to delivering it to Queen Slug-for-a-Butt. He must rescue Princess Whats-her-name from her clutches.

Gameplay: Like most 2D side-scrolling games, Earthworm Jim was a platformer with lots of jumping, shooting and whipping enemies. You'll be travelling through 7 worlds based on the TV series where you will encounting some eneimies and other charcters like Psycrow, Peter, and Evil the Cat from the TV series.
Most parts of the gameplay have a few Indiana Jones elements where you'll have to use Jims head as a whip and to grab hooks to get to the other side of a area. Jim also can use his head as a helicoptor to fly and to land safely with out getting hit or losing a life. You'll also be able to use a gun which Earthworm Jim carrys to shoot and fire at enemies and bosses, and you will be seeing alot of bullets coming out of the gun. You can also pick up Lazar blast for your gun and do more damage to enemies and bosses thats if you don't waste them stright away that is.

Graphics and Sound: With 2D graphics it does a really good job based on the TV series in general unlike most games that have camrea problems in most 3D games. There wasn't any camrea problems back then 80' and 90's because most people didn't have the right tools and materials back then if they wanted to make a new console but that was before the mid 90's where you had the N64 and the PS1 being a huge sucess.

There are alot of sprites in Earthworm Jim. Like many other games, if the player leaves Jim stationary for an extended period of time, he will begin to entertain himself with various actions. These include: flexing the muscles in his body until his pants fall, which he promptly pulls back up; flexing his muscles so much that he blows up into a mass of muscle; throwing his gun in the air and catching it; throwing his gun in the air, donking him on the head; throwing his gun in the air and landing it perfectly in his holster, accidentally shooting himself with his plasma gun, leaving a face made of soot and two eyes wide open; the super suit removing Jim, using the worm like a skipping rope; singing "la la laaa" to himself, much like Toejam does in Toejam and Earl; and spinning the gun on his finger using the trigger guard.

Music and Sounding does a nice job to in the game you've got the main voice acotr who did Earthworm Jim who is none other then Dan Castellaneta who did the voicing for Homer Simpson from the The Simpson. Music for the game can be memorable to those who remebered the TV series but the music for the game is different from the TV series but nothing new there.

Overall: Anyone still owns a Sega Mega Drive it is worth checking out if you see this game in second shops or in Retro Game shops if there is any around. You can also pick up this game on the Wii if you want to spend Wii points for it or if you see it on Gameboy Advance because there was a port for it and putten on GBA. But sooner or later it should appeaer on PSN and Xbox Live or unless or unless if Sega releases anothor Sega Mega Drive/Retro Collection. You can beat the game in a few hours but you'll be getting alot of humor out of the game.
