a +10 to RPG addiction

Although Zelda did much for my long term addiction into gaming, it was the release of Earthbound that got me eternally hooked. When this game first hit the shelves I was still messing around with Mega Man X or lame games like Joe and Mac & Bubsy. I couldn't afford games at my age so i resorted to begging my father to take me to Prime time Video ( later it turned into a Blockbuster Video ). I would scan the seemingly endless shelves for something to waste time on. Oh there ! What is this ! A LARGE ass box with a futuristic robot on the front ! I had to play it ! I didnt even know why but I HAD to. The video store rented it out to me . . . STRATEGY GUIDE AND ALL. I almost wet myself on the ride home. I ran into my room when I got home and the rest is history. I played it and played it and I had to rent the thing twice in order to beat it. It had everything a good game should have. Plot. Humor. Variety. Great Characters and character development. Much to do and see without being TOO much. Unique. I mean , its pure genius what this game throws at you. The combat system was great. The controls were great. The visuals where pretty good if you don't count the weird back grounds during a battle ( they rarely ever changed from the zig zaggy retro lines ). When I finally purchased the game ( from pennies for doing endless house chores ) I kept it in my SNES for a good couple of years. Shortly there after a friend borrowed it and moved away. I have missed it ever since. Even now it's a rare game that cannot be purchased for cheaper than $200 on Ebay. Here is to Earthbound , and the chance that the Wii will deliver me from saddened nostalgia.
