Just saw that Mother 4 is being created by the fans of the series....

YESSS!!!! I am so pumped by this it's ridiculous!!!!

Does anyone know if it will have controller support?

If it's a PC game then you can use something like JoyToKey.

That it is, and thank you for the reply...

It looks like this Mother 4 is going to be pretty in depth. Hopefully it comes out as awesome as it looks.

Haven't kept up with it. I rarely bother following projects like this since (no offense to those involved) 99% of Mother related fan games of full console game scope wind up in the scrap heap.

How is it planned to be played? Via emulator? Standalone executable? If it's emulated then it would obviously have controller support via emulator. Even if it's a standalone executable you can probably get a controller that lets you assign keyboard keys to the controller buttons.

Ahh this isn't one of those "run-of-the-mill" projects... This is more akin to the Tomatoe translation of mother 3 that earned praise from both square enix and nintendo of Japan employees.

Check it out... Do a google for mother 4 andonuts.

Thought I'd post this for you guys to look at... also over at starmen.net there is a pretty good topic going on the forums!

Hope the fans of the series are as pumped about this as I am!

They did all original music, all original story, characters, cities, etc etc... they've been working on it for 3 years and from the sounds of it, its in the final stages.

I see. There have been so many "EarthBound 2" or EB 1.5 or whatever projects that I didn't realize this one was receiving especial effort.

I quit frequently SM.net forums a while back. Probably around the time 75% of new threads got locked for "redundancy" when they're about a game for which virtually everything that could possibly be said, has been said at some point. No idea why they decided they needed three dozen mods...

    Lol very true.

Well anyways, I'll definitely post on here whenever Mother 4 finally comes out. I definitely will be following their progress from now on.

Hopefully it's as good as it appears to be!

While a fan game is nice, I'd rather play an official version of Mother 4. But, that's not happening, so what else can be done!

Honestly speaking, I'm in the planning stages for my own version of Mother 4. But I'm no good at making games, so I'm going to write instead, as writing stories is what I'm good at. But, by no means does mean I say that my version is the real Mother 4! I honestly think that anyone could have their own version of it, since there will never be an official Mother 4.

I've seen some things on the fan game, it does seem pretty interesting.

The people who are making mother 4, are a team of 8 individuals all with degrees in programming and music development etc...

I think a lot of people are underestimating how close to an actual Nintendo remake this is going to be. I wish more people would check out the site, and look at exactly what they are doing.

I've been following this project for 3 years now, and I can feel that Mother 4 is going to be one of those fan games that surpasses our expectations by ten-fold.

Also, I just felt like saying that they've said it'll be an .exe file, with controller support to boot. Although I only think the 360 controller could be used with it at the time, but who knows how much headway they've made since then? (It's in one of their blog posts, but I'm too lazy to search for it xD)

The plot...heck, the entire fan game simply exudes effort (well done, Team Azure), and I'm really glad that Chaisu handed over the project to the rest of the team instead of letting it die before he had to go. I hope he'll be able to play it when it comes out!

Look, I don't have anything against fangames. I'm aware there is a team involved too. I mean, why wouldn't there be? I'm pretty sure those Mother Patches took more than one person to make!

Thing is, if people underestimate it, I can see why people would. Most fangames, honestly speaking, are just not that good. That could be where they come from.

People do the same thing about stories that are written and posted on the web, like mine.

Now, again, from what I have seen, it does look pretty interesting. It's just, I have a different story in my head, that's all it is for me.

I agree with everything you said...

I posted on the mother 4 main forum yesterday and asked if the game is likely to be done in 2012... "The Dan" who is in charge I believe, responded with a rather vague answer, and it appears there is still much to be done. So we'll have to see.

Whoa, it looks really nice. Hope they can finish the project, I want to play the game. =)

At first I wasn't too sure about the Mother 4 project, but the more I see, the curiouser and curiouser I get.

It's funny how memorable the name Bobby Corwen is. It sounds like any hometown neighbor boy, but I remember. Yes, I always remember.

I saw your post on the forum topic, actually. Their answers usually spoil without spoiling >:3 Also, his name is Dave, not Dan xD
They have gotten a lot of it completed, as he said, but there's still lots to get done. Perfection takes time, you know

Also, don't forget about Zephys as one of the guys in charge of the team. I think The Dave and him share the "leader" title.
