Why this didn't get released anywhere else?

Mother is definately a retro RPG. But it does things others didn't in its time. For one, it takes place in the 80's. You play as a young American boy who must go on a journey to learn a mysterious psyichic power and defeat an evil alien, known as Giegue, who seeks revenge on Earth for reasons unknown(until the end of the game). Instead of finding swords, axes, and magical staffs, you use weapons like, bats, boomerangs, and bottlerockets. Yes, you do at times have to wander around and fight enemies just to level up. It's best if you just fight every enemy you find instead of running away because it will almost alway's fail but soon you will be killing them in one hit. In the game you have to find 8 mysterious melodies throughout the game. The plot is very deep in that two people were abducted and only one person came back in the prolouge. This is one mystery you will solve in the game don't worry but yeah. If you like RPG's even a little you should play this. Check out starmen.net for a guide if you are stuck.
