Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon Interview (Xbox 360)

I know that the comments about split-screen are from about a year ago :p, but just in case, IT'S GOT SPLIT SCREEN! :)

How can an excuse for one big shoot out be a bad thing? I just can't quite fathom exactly where tariq's dislike of this game stems from. Graphics are a daft battleground to argue the merits of any game on, and EDF's look more than presentable anyway. It's not realistic, okay, but you seem to like Halo, so realism doesn't seem to be the issue (sorry to break it to you if you thought Halo actually was real). The premise of this series from the very beginning has always been about fighting off swarms of enemies, and like the man in the video says, the 'story' of it being an Earth Defence Force is merely there to serve as an excuse to do so. Does it really matter if they're alien species or people dressed up in space-age armour? Each to their own, of course, but this game encapsulates all that games have going for them against other media: interactive escapism. Comparing two types of media such as film and games is a mug's game, so it is best to focus on each one's strengths, and this game seems to play brilliantly to them. Now if they'd only put a two-player offline splitscreen in the game...

@tariq393 Wow if you want to be that literal. I never said you call everyone an idiot, but you certainly seem to act like you think its so. Youd be getting great gameplay from this, clearly demostrated by the previous EDF game... and much like your demon souls according to you, little story. That should put them in a common boat, no? No ofcourse not apparently. You dont sound as intimidating, or smart as you think just for future reference. But I wont be replying back seeing as these internet arguments are boring. Also because: 1- I dont like your type (doing exactly what they are saying without noticing, like judging people through comments) and cant seem to notice themselves being ignorant. 2- I didnt misunderstand you.. its an interpretation of how you acted. And I lied? Hah! Buddy.. its only you and me here, dont flatter yourself. Its not like Ive tried to spread rumors about you with my friends and community. 3- Fantasy? Since I watched Starship Troopers as a little kid Ive wanted to mow through horde of giant bugs, because its entertaining and being serious all the time is unhealthy. If youre suggesting sexual fantasies.. get a better joke. 4- I dont like your face.

@Destrin aha so now you know me through a gamespot comment!! i called you buddy i didn't call you idiot because you disagreed with me, actually your the one who called me silly kid because you misunderstood my point! anyway i said clearly in my first comment that was my opinion, it's still a bad idea even for a game(at least for me). "next oscar winning film or some emotionally deep gameplay" is it too much to ask for good story and good gameplay? isn't that what most if not all true gamers want in the games, i'm not talking about fanboys of course but guess what i played many games that have a weak story but fantastic gameplay like demon soul for instance(almost no story but great gameplay) so your statement about the oscar fails sorry! EDF has no story and it's gameplay is mediocre so i'll pass and believe me i had fun with games for a very long time so you just don't worry about that and not if i didn't like one of the stupidest ideas in video gaming ever created means that im not having fun with games. look please don't reply to me again because: 1- i don't like your type(thinking they know people through comments and judging them by that) this called ignorance your not smart 2- you misunderstood me two times: calling me silly kid for wrong reason and lying about me calling who disagrees with me an idiot. 3- you seem like you had some sort of fantasy with bugs(go figure) that's why your defending this game so much

@tariq393 Oh I know, your very touchy and easily offended apparently. The premise. Giant alien bugs invade the earth. Tacky and weird.. bad for a movie... but for a video game where the story is an excuse to let you run around a huge map fighting hordes of giant bugs... its pretty great actually. The developer plainly says that story isnt the focus. And if you ever played EDF2017 you would know how immensely fun it is (especially for $5). You seem to either be looking for the next Oscar winning film or some emotionally deep gameplay, plainly obvious this isnt it. You should slash some of the time you spend trying to convince yourself that everyone who disagrees with you is an idiot and spend some of it learning to have fun with video games. And y'know... there is something very special about the concept.. absolute focus on gameplay... obnoxious amounts of fun.. And whens the last time you fought a legion of giant bugs... besides the other EDF games. Conventional gets boring.

@Destrin i like how you guys calling other people kids if they express thier opinions and you don't agree with them, listen destrin buddy if you read my first comment you'd know that graphics were one of the bad things about this game but it's not the main reason why i didn't like the it, it's because the stupid idea of it, so before calling people kids and making fool of yourself, read, understand then judge and one more thing you said "how it plays" i don't think i really see something special about how it plays! do you see something special in halo dressed like guys fighting huge bugs??

@tariq393 You think that because the graphics are sub par (even though they look fine) that the game is poor? You silly kids these days.. more worried about how the game looks than how it plays.

@Malaphisis first i didn't talk about how much effort or work whatever they spent on the game, i was talking about the stupid idea and actually if this all what they capable of doing then it's a lousy job. now you dont know what kind of PC i have so don't try to be smartass coz you will only look ignorant and yes this a PS2 graphics but if you can't tell yet then you should clean your eyes a bit, after all that's my opinion.

At least graphics look nicer. If framerate didn't suffer then it may be an OK game.

tariq393 you make a better game. Do you have any idea how much work goes into a game? Your pc obviously can't handle hd video because this game has next-gen textures, plus your silly for saying it looks ps2.

my god! bugs? seriously!!! am i going to fight huge spiders, ants and bees with space suite guys in the streets?? is this idea suppose to be genuine or something? i mean come on are these people for real? what the hell they were thinking?? lets create a huge insects game with halo look like characters! this not even a rental consideration for me, i would feel dump just considering the idea plus, the graphics look like PS2..maybe it was made for PS2 and then they thought: hey! lets port this garbage to the PS3 coz not too many people playing PS2 these days. this game is 3.0 to 4.0 score max..sorry 360 fans i wrote in your section but i coulden't wait to move to PS3 section to comment on this trash

Awww... No PC... This game could have some awesome, crazy, ridiculous mods.

I really hope this is early footage. But I have to admit, if they can clean it up and make it more new and shiney, then it does kinda look like good old fun.

All I would change are the guns and maybe put in a giant robot to pilot ^^ The guns tho, 'coz they're a bit too 'pew pew' for me. They need to be more like real guns, with a real feeling of impact when you hit a giant ant with a shotgun shell.
