LOS ANGELES--Ubisoft is set to publish a new first-person shooter from British developers Free Radical Design. The game is named Haze and will be shown at the Electronic Entertainment Expo for the first time ahead of its scheduled release in early 2007 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.

Set 25 years in the future, the game stars Jack Carpenter, who is a newly enlisted soldier in an outsourced military outfit named the Mantel army. The outfit has access to high-tech vehicles, weaponry, and performance-enhancing biomedical support.

The game starts as Carpenter is sent to a war-torn South American country to fight a rebel faction named The Promise Hand. From here, Ubisoft says that "things quickly begin to look a little strange."

Online modes will include co-op and multiplayer. We'll have more on the game from the booth direct from E3.
