Good effort to change the game but still needs more work

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce is revolutionary to the franchise in many ways. Anyone who has played the previous games will feel right at home with Strikeforce but the biggest change is the the emphasis on multiplayer gameplay. You are going to have a hard time beating this game if don't have friends with a PSP and this game to play with you. You probably should play with another player to beat the later missions. If you do have friends to play with, it becomes very enjoyable and is probably a must get for the PSP. If you don't, you'll reach points in the game when you face 3 or 4 officers all at once who will beat you around like a plush toy. The officer AI is more aggressive than before so they don't take turns beating you, they just do it all at once. They'll even beat you up with combos when on the ground.

The rest of the game's elements are nothing new to the DW series. You play as the same characters and you take part of in the 3 kingdoms same story. Although this time, it's a little bit different. There's a heavy emphasis on Lu Bu now. The orbs, mosou, and fury modes are deeper than before. You can customize them to your liking... But you'll still be generally hacking and slashing your way through armies. There's also an enjoyable town/city feature where you upgrade facilities from which you buy equipment and accessories.

The graphics are good for the PSP. The controls are nice and simple. You'll like the gameplay if you liked it before... but play with your friends!

Overall, a step in the right direction for the series. But when playing, the game feels a bit half baked in some departments which leaves the gameplay a bit frustrating. The new fury/mosou forms are definitely not completed. They don't feel as powerful as they should since they take a while to build up. They are not that different than being in the normal form. Still, overall a good game that I recommend.
