Thanks for this review; hopefully I can get this game soon since it is not expensive and I heard some awesome comments in this video review.

My guess is that Tom doesn't fit the demographic (I know, crazy right) that this game was aimed at.  My kids love this game, even those "annoying" characters.

I saw on gametrailers that this game is also on the pc. But there is no mentioning here and i can't find it on steam or other digital shops that i know off. Can anyone confirm if this game is also on the pc? Not that i mind buying it for the 360 but if there is a pc version i prefer to play it on there (no hatting just a Mather of preference).

I've played games that Tom Mc Shea reviewed, and I've found him correct...so, I trust Tom :D

So what will happen when you play the next game tom reviewes and disagree with him, will you still trust him?

@Virdentaucent4  @Evolve81  @jflkdjs  @TheGuardian03 Ok I don't even know why I am even replying to this but....... dude at this point who cares. We can agree to disagree, as you have a view point on the original comments from the two that started this segmented conversation and so do I. Those two don't even care about this I am almost sure. If you even look a jflkdjs post he/she originally stated that he/she wanted TheGuardian03 to chill so I know he/she wasn't taking this seriously at all but here you are again replying to something like last time only at an even larger duration of space than previous (1st reply two weeks - 2nd reply over two months! lol) so this must be really important to you. Try focusing on school, or your kids, or your career, or completing a game rather than taking out your deep aggression on this tiny conversation that should have only been 4 post (j/k). From the look of this last reply it seems like you took a lot of time to articulate your sentences and is the first sign that you need to "chill-lax" its just a forum your not in court. We are here to express opinions of VIDEO GAMES remember?

Anyway I am done with this for good, although I am sure that you will once again reply. Analyze this --> I suggest that you enjoy your weekend - and for anyone who just so happens to read these post (yeah right lol) here is a caveat, if you don't want to enter a long winded boring conversation to put you to sleep, be careful when conversing with "Virdentaucent4" on this site. PEACE!

@Evolve81  @Virdentaucent4  @jflkdjs  @TheGuardian03 It is clear to me Evolve, when the intent in a question is towards mocking a person rather then giving a earnest query from how it's written, it's format and intonation, and Guardian's post was never intended as a genuine query about jflkdjs's logic for his reason for purchasing this game.

We have the right to debate and questioning as you say, but it's clear to anyone with half a lifetime of social experience that Guardian intended to chastise jflkdjs's post for whatever nerve it hit with Guardian. I would kindly ask you to cool off and get off your own pillar Evolve, you seem to have little to no experience extrapolating intent and meaning from others writing.

I am done with this conversation as per this post, I suggest you consider my words and re-evaluate the situation you blundered into so angrily to analyze it more carefully.

 @Virdentaucent4  @jflkdjs  @TheGuardian03

Virdentaucent4 what in the hell are you talking about? It was just a simple question that TheGuardian03 asked, although there was sarcasm included it was still just a simple question. If anyone needs to settle down is you buddy, sitting here weeks later responding to a non-serious issue with a deep reaction. If anything you are a hypocrite calling us childish and overblown. The funny thing is, we never said anything about having distaste for jflkds's post, you are just assuming on the negative as people generally do (so predictable). We didn't have to place any logic behind such simple post that only consist of a couple lines unless the conversation went any further but as you and everyone else can see it did not. As members of this site and as gamers we should be able to ask our fellow gamers questions or debate with them and that is what these forums are for in the first place to voice our opinions. So get off your high horse AND YOU SETTLE DOWN friend. You clearly thought that you could come in here and say something that you thought was clever but instead you look like an A-Hole because you decided to have a cow patty and tried to diss us on something so petty. Next time read before you type.

@Evolve81  @jflkdjs  @TheGuardian03 You and guardian need to settle down Evolve. A member posts simply and without hyperbole or any sense of self righteousness that he trusts a reviewer because thus far his line of thought concurs with the reviewer... that's about the same with all gamers, they find a reviewer that they find share their criteria strongly, undoubtedly they'll feel like trusting said reviewer. Instead, you and guardian waste time and energy chastising a guy for encompassing his thoughts on what he thinks on getting a game, simply in that he's found himself in agreement with a reviewer's decisions thus far... Your reactions to this are childish and overblown, with no given logic for why you feel such distaste for this small, simple post.

@jflkdjs  @TheGuardian03 Ok jflkdjs all  Guardian03 did was just asked you a simple question, you're the one taking it to the extreme, if you can't handle the question just say so? @ TheGuardian you can't trust a guy with a jibberish name anyway -> jflkdjs lol

Tom Mc Shea,

Here's a tip:

Say your pro's before the cons and people won't think you are such a salty deebag.

Every review from Tom Mc Shea goes as following:

"This is why the game sucks, but do they do something right to make up for it a little."

Don't hate, you get paid to write reviews for video games. Other people have to do a way worse to get their paychecks. Don't be so salty.

Hay critic when indie games can make a game look and play this great i might just agree with what you are saying other wise people like you should shut up and try making a game like this yourself and if its better then this i might just agree with what your saying but i dont agree with you and it sounds like your trying to point out alot of negative more then positive for this game and alot of you are all the same you give negative feedback to some really impressive games, i like fighting games 2d side scrolling beat'em ups ever since the days of original nintendo when double dragon first came out or river city ransom or streets of rage and golden axe even shootem up games like contra these games paved the way for all these new games today and alot of a-holes they don't agree with this style of game well F#@k You cause i dont think you really know games when you can do better perhaps your insults should be considered take this game for example this looks incredible graphics, action, repetitive my a$$ this game looks hot besides the animal being the main characters of the game instead of actual people i will buy this game and i would buy a hundred more like it in the future until my fingers can't mash on the controller buttons anymore hell i like to watch my grandchildren playing games like this when i cant playem myself anymore all hell to the N.F.G.R.  and even though i just made that up this stands for Nationwide Fighting Game Republic.

Tom Mc Shea is just a critical reviewer.... It's a good thing.... a 7 is most certainly worth playing but when he gives something an 8 or a 9 you know you gadda play it.... don't take it so personal... 7 straight up says "GOOD" right under it

Evolve81
Evolve81

@uglypinkmoose Ok, have you even played this game? I do understand why he gave it that score. Not the combo system but more so the lack of moves and I can see the game getting a little repetitive but what game doesn't? There isn't one game that you don't do the same stuff over and over again (Halo, Mario, Final Fantasy) I bet you can't name one. This story so far seems to be pretty good and the way they structured it seems very well put too. He complained about the way the characters looked and the way the dialogue was played??? What? To me that is not a good reviewer, he didn't say too many things that justified the score, and this guy gets paid for this crap.

But look we gamers all know that giving a game a 7 is not the greatest score especially when developers keep putting out crappy games that we all get hyped over only to get punch in the face by a "Too Bad So Sad it Wasn't that Great After All" ticket right after we paid $50 or $60 for it (Brink Anyone!) and this game only cost $15!!!!. So hell yeah when a game that deserves an at least an 8 gets a very negative 7 of course were going to be heated. All I gotta say is Gamers United and we Run This Here not some lame reviewer that is trying to deter people from buying this good game by giving it a subpar score.

Lol again more Tom Mc shea hate. Why do people fail to understand that Tom(unlike more reviewers) reserves 8s and 9s for games that truly deserve them?

Evolve81
Evolve81 like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

@JOYRIDEME The funny thing about this review is, that his review is probably comparing this game to disc games. There aren't many XBLA games like this one. Most of the games on XBLA are the same stuff over and over again. I mean how many freakin Defender games can developers make before actually trying something new lol. Did you actually hear the way that he was talking about this game??? As a reviewer of course it is your opinion so it is going to be bias but you have to remember not to judge based on what you personally do not like but you should base it off of what works and what doesn't. If you don't like anime THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU REVIEWING A GAME THAT IS HEAVILY INFLUENCED BY ANIME???! C'mon man you have got to admit that doesn't make sense.

So the fact that the game doesn't use automatic saving is a fault ? Omg people these days ...

Rockslide
Rockslide

@SnaikBG This game auto-saves every time you walk thru a save-tower, which are fairly close by all the time.  It also has 10 manual save slots, which can be cut and pasted or erased at your heart's content.  Loading puts you at the exact save-tower location.  It has about the best auto-save / manual save / load game system of all, IMHO.

TomMcShea
TomMcShea moderatorstaff like.author.displayName 1 Like

@SnaikBG Automatic saving after the challenge rooms. I don't have a problem with the saving system otherwise. But when you have to leave challenge rooms to find a save spot and then return to the challenge room to improve your score, that's a problem. Not a big one, but a problem nonetheless.

zgreenwell
zgreenwell

@SnaikBG It is a fault. There is no reason to avoid it in modern games and if you end up losing hours of progress once, it is enough that you'll never want to play the game again.

Rockslide
Rockslide

@zgreenwell The way this game auto-saves, you can't lose more than a couple minutes,  You can also change to a casual mode to make dying impossible, on the fly at any time, to get past a difficult spot. (Good for small kids too), then change difficulty level back again, on the fly (options/settings).  Didn't want a false impression about how this game is.  Agree with your statement.

Hey Tom, do you think the combat could be more enjoyable at higher difficulty settings, or the lack of depth/progression will make it tedious anyway? I'm short of money this month, and still thinking if I should give this one a shot. (I'm a big Castlevania fan, and this game kinda resembles it for me...specially the terrible dialogue, rs)

TomMcShea
TomMcShea moderatorstaff

@georgeschall I played through the entire game on normal and about five hours on tough (second hardest difficulty) and easily cleaved through enemies the entire time. it's still a really fun and long game, though, so I'd recommend it.

georgeschall
georgeschall

@TomMcShea I'll pick it up, then. Atmosphere's usually a big deal for me too in these games, and this game has a great sense of it. Thanks for replying!
