I played EVE back in the day, and understood why someone would play a second character on another account: since there was a skill queue, concurrently skilling up two characters would allow them to do more in less time (e.g., one combat character, and one research/manufacturing character). I can also see the benefits of a second character on the same account (e.g., parking that character in a busy hub to do price checks).
I'm not entirely sure why anyone would use all three character slots in Dust 514.
Maybe I'm missing something, but since there is a common skill foundation, and since most skillpoints will be earned by actually playing, will it not always be more efficient to skill the same character along a different branch, than have three separate characters that performance three separate functions?
For open beta, I created a test character to play around with since I hear there won't be a stats wipe. But after messing around a bit more, I was planning to make a single character and going with that. Having played EVE Online, there is this reflex/momentum where I have this urge to create an alt, but I'm having a hard time understanding why this is useful. Any thoughts? I suppose there's the corporate espionage angle...
