Dungeon Siege III drops some loot for Kevin VanOrd in this video review.
@slainta I wish that demon's souls would have been out for the pc, and I am sorry if i struck any cords with you. I am a console gamer as well, I just don't like how game companies change solid games to suit other mediums, even though they had a great game in the first place. It seems, like many other facets regarding consumerism, that the gamer pays the consequences for greed. I meant no disrespect. The sword cuts both ways with console games going to pc. I would rather just have a solid game regardless of the platform. Greed will be the death of quality games. Don't let me get started on DLC and Games for Windows and the lot, and weather or not used games will be a thing of the past. LOL
bought game for 18 bucks and this game rocks...gave it a 8.0 this game reminds me of the old ps2 classic baulders gate and bg dark all
@Nautalus79 sorry but we console gamers don't need this junk. We have the much superior games like Demon's and Dark Souls. Dungeon Siege has just been a big flop.
Yet another Sell Out to the dumbed down console crowd. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy console games but dislike the choice of changing great PC games in-order to pacify console players. Please keep the integrity of the game.
It looks more fun than Kingdoms of Amalur. And it looks like the graphics are better too.
Dungeon siege 2 was MUCH BETTER.. Consolosation of some games really hurts some times :(
The DLC allows rebinding of keys for the PC. I dont think they ever patched it to where you could rebind keys without the DLC. The DLC is pretty decent, and challenging on hardcore. I would also recommend playing the game with an X360 controller (which is what i did).
@Aisar87 Yeah the online is completely pointless, it's just there if you're bored or are after the absurd trophies, or simply need a helping hand with a boss if the AI doesn't do what you want. It's a great single player game though. But if you have a dedicated partner to play with, you wont notice the lack of not being able to keep loot, if you two are always together you will be able to share everything anyway.
While i would of been quite angry if i brought this full price at release, borrowed this from a friend for the xbox and found it quite enjoyable on hardcore and he got it for £10 new, just dont make the mistake of buying it to do co-op like he did that side of it really is appalling. If your just looking for some Action rpg fun its quite worth picking up for the low price it is now.
If you cannot use your own character or keep loot in multiplayer what is the point? Is multiplayer and 4-person groups not its strong suit? I was seriously thinking about playing this until D3 but no way now.
The game is pretty solid, good gameplay and a great loot. Just what this kind of game needs.
Glad I came here before I opened this. I looked it up on my phone at the store and saw a good score on my G4 ap so I grabbed it. Now that it's sitting in a Wal Mart bag with a receipt the bad reviews have me wanting to get back my $63
At first I thought that PS3 gamers are stupid, but it's good that I woke up, that only morons like PC gamers would support permanent internet connection. I hate PC gamers, after 500 games purchased. Sorry I went after too much time on PS3, what good games are here.
I still like this game & deserve better, obsidian provide online game play so people can get trophy or achievement easier, and because the online content, I manage to got the platinum trophy.
You know nothing about the action rpg genre, do you? He didn't mean not having to do anything, he meant LETTING US USE THE DAMN MOUSE, NOT THE KEYBOARD TO COMPLETE ACTIONS. Action RPGs aren't mindless dribbles. They're supposed to be there for the action. Look at Diablo 2. Can you say it didn't have a well thought story? Sure, ingame you don't come across alot of it, but as a whole it is a well designed, clever storyline. Please get back to your consoles and enjoy the PoS consolization.
This review is ridiculous. Although it has some completely valid points (such as online being screwed and the annoying camera), I can't believe somebody would actually have the audacity to complain about having to face an enemy in order to attack, or having to "press a key" to open a chest. Is this really what PC gamers want? To just click the screen like an idiot and win? I somehow doubt it. Dungeon diving games are evolving, whether you like it or not. And while small games (with small budgets) like Torchlight are going to stay simple and true to the "no story, PSX graphics, loot everywhere and click to win!" idea, the bigger ones such as Dungeon Siege are going to begin incorporating story, graphics, and skill into their formula. Considering the mindless dribble we've been handed for the past umpteen years, I feel it's a good direction for the genre as a whole. Although Dungeon Siege III obviously has a good bit of ironing to do.
Don't see how he can say that this game isn't as good as Torchlight or Deathspank. Perhaps he doesn't know, but Torchlight and Deathspank don't have the multiplayer option like DS3. The reason this game failed in summary, is that it was conSOLD out. They are always dumbing down good computer games to allow console people to play it. Happy gaming :)
i just bought it today for my 360 (still haven't played it) and i can't believe that this game got such a low/terrible/dumbed down user opinion.. i bought this game because i really like DS franchise.. now i'm starting to regret buying this game.. well at least i'll just give it a try..
Kevin VanOrd was actually nice giving this game 6.5. Bought this game to play it online but the camera's spinning around during the co-op mode just gave me headache. I had to play it single player, and it was not memorable at all. Actually the game being short should be considered a positive side of it, since while playing I couldn't wait to reach the end and trade this game in my nearest game shop while it's worth something.
Just an ok game to pass the time, loot is the only thing that keeps you going really, a bit short (2 days to finish it), still some fun to be had.
PC is king, but designers under the rule of publishers make games thinking on consoles....all for the masses. Diablo series, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter nights, Fallout. All were games thought for PC and succeeded, even the first two Dungeon Siege. Please, make games for PC and then translate them to consoles, not the other way around.
After i played the demo i was surprised to see this as a disk bought game. It feels like one of the lesser developed downloadable games on the network, with its shallow combat and odd looking character sprites. This review actually makes it look alright, but it really is not worth anyones time
Why every time I hear about console/PC hybrids I always end up buying trash? Played this for about an hour because it's one of those game I'dd love to love. Sadly, I gave up because of the annoying inventory management (as @Decardcain said, I WANT A DOLL INVENTORY!) and strange graphics -for me, colors blend, resolutions are a mess and chars lack outer lining, giving me a headache after 15 min... It's like playing with the sun in your screen (Nvidia 8500Gt)
Very sad. Doesn't at all seem or look like Dungeon Siege anymore. When you slap a number onto something it should at least follow the same basic set ups that people enjoyed of a series as well as build on them and make them fresh. This just seems like another carbon copy of what is already out there having nothing to really do with it being a Dungeon Siege game in anyway. Very disappointing. I'll wait until lower price on this. He is right.. for 10 bucks you can play Torchlight and get the same experience.
Played the demo on the computer. didn't like it. the controlls are what ruined it for me. I used to play DS 1 with my friends and had a good time smoking pot and chillin. but this just sucks I played the demo for 10min and uninstalled. I wonder if developers even play the games they make
I have played every game in the serious, yeaah this isn't traditional, still a darn good game though :)
Putting the Dungeon Siege brand on this box was their worst mistake. It would be interesting to see a review that doesn't make the comparison to Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, particularly since I made it about 30 minutes into those games before being bored to tears.
obsidian do suck, but we have to partly blame square-enix too (i love ff-series, especially ff7) as you can see the design is much like the recent ff-games down to the minimap... just look at the warrior's hair... totally j-boy hair
Another PC title ruined by adapting (stripping) it for consoles. GG! Way to ruin a good series.
LOVED the 1st Dungoen Siege for PC. If you take any game that was great on PC strip away the innovation and complexities, dumb down the graphics and reduce the control abilities to suit a console controller this is what you get. Why not design a game for console and a game for PC seperately? Because its not as profitable to dedicate shelf space to V8 Juice when Pepsi is higher profit. So what happens? Our schools and stores and PC's are stocked with the lowest quality ingredients to maximize the profits for the corporations that have managed to gain total control of all avenues of a product. Development, marketing, sales and distribution. How many years have gone by since the 360? We should be playing insanely cool games with sick graphics and total community integration. But thats not as profitable. Dont do these corporations any favors, because they sure arent doing any for you.
Hmmm...I think I will pass on this one. Bad camera angles can really be a deal-breaker sometimes which milks away all the fun.
@tommynj -- I did every side quest I encountered. Final game time was just over 12 hours.
Played the demo, it was awfull. Really awfull, can't believe obsidian did this game.
The camera is bad enough in singleplayer, the way it works in co-op is plain asinine. You can't even bring in your own character so you can keep some loot? I'm at a loss for words... we're talking about basic features that have been around for ages. On the bright side, I've read Torchlight 2 is due out this year...
Oh another dumbed down game.. I'm getting used to this. If only they allowed multiplatform it would give me a reason to buy it and play with my brother in his ps3. But no, that would be too much to ask. So I'm passing this one.
ownestly i dont like the wacko camera and the inventory call me old fashioned but in hack and slash games i prefer the doll type of inventory
