This week on Crosshairs, we hack and slash with Obsidian in Dungeon Siege III, we chat to Nobuo Uematsu about video game compositions, and we answer questions from the GameSpot community about the Gears of War 3 beta!
no love for solid snake? tss.
@azumabob-I've never played any of the Dungeon Siege games but on Steam if you pre order DS3 you get 1 and 2 to play so I've been checking them out.Are they decent games and are they like Diablo style.
@khimeron13 Just look up the game on Gamespot for the multiplayer co-op play. They talk about it in a few videos.
@khimeron13 - lol your probably right about having trouble to dumb it down. Im still looking forward to this game but they have dropped any point to the co-op as you don't keep any experience from playing in anyone else's game. Also the game is more action oriented than it was in previous games. Apparently you do still get a party (of four characters max) which can be co-op players who can drop in-out. check out this link for info: http://www.co-optimus.com/article/5428/dungeon-siege-3-co-op-details-release-date-screenshots-and-video.html
@azumabob and @TheTrainer1980 wait how can they dumb dungeon siege down moer than it was it was only a point and click hack and slash i agree that they have dumbed down RPG's lately but unless they took out a large group of party members(less than 4 for me) than that means that its more complicated like with all the stances and speciial powers, attacks and spells it sounds pretty cool. I am dissappointed to hear about the co-op though where did you hear that anyways?? can u post a link id be interested in reading the article/watching the video. I also hope they in fact did NOT remove large parties cause the viedeos theyve shown look like it with only 2 characters at once being shown....its iffy.

@TheTrainer1980 - I agree it is depressing that RPGs have suffered so much as games become more popular, I just don't think its really the fault of consoles, more the fault of trying to secure more sales at the expense of fans of the series.
@azumabob Regardless, it's dumbed down compared to the first two. :( Just like they did to Dragon Age. It's frustrating that RPG's are becoming idiot proof and more action packed. Gone all the days of a good ol' RPG.
@TheTrainer1980 - They havent 'dumbed it down' for Console, they have 'dumbed it down' for PC players and then ported it to console to get some more sales rather than just get pirated by PC users. As games become more popular, the more complicated games will be streamlined (dumbed down as you put it) to match the target consumer. In this case those consumers are PC,Xbox 360 and PS3 users. I doubt they coded the game on a console first, so it looks as though they figured you PC guys were not up to the game's complexities and simplified it for you.
I liked the Gears of War beta Q&A - that's about spot on, I'm enjoying it, but now people who have way more time than me to play are going kinda crazy and I'm getting massacred ;) the outakes are very amusing here :)
Can't see user reviews anymore, anyone else!?
GOW 3 is GREAT
THEY RUINED IT! *sigh* "Without dumbing it down to much..." They took the hot keys and made it an action RPG. Which the game is, but seriously, they could have done so much more.
Looking forward to Dungeon Siege III. I'm just sad they didn't make the co-op good. What I mean by that is this. When I join someone else's game with my character, everything I do doesn't get saved. I don't save my experience, my loot, my gold, nothing. So why would I want to jump into another person's on-line adventure and not get anything from it. They really messed up by doing that. If they really wanted people to work together, they should of allowed the other people to keep their loot and experience. It's sad that this game will mostly be played offline. I was looking forward to some good dungeon crawling multiplayer. Also it's very upsetting that they've dumbed down the game for the console players. I hope they stay true to their formula and have the game be based on skill (the more you use magic the more it goes up, etc and not point based)
Great show! Thanks for the Gears 3 beta key Gamespot! :D
