If you love and enjoyed Dungeon Siege 1 &/or 2, don't cheat yourself by buying Dungeon Siege 3

User Rating: 4 | Dungeon Siege III PS3
Dungeon Siege 1 & 2, were very interactive, with tons of places to explore and a challenge of a game. They had many side quests where you could explore and earn experience.

First, let me say I write this in hopes I save someone $60.

Dungeon Siege 3 is a cheat, for starters the in-house multiplayer is limited to the main character and "an extra". You cannot have two people living in the same house play the game and earn credit for their achievements in game. You see the game allows you to bring a second character into the game, but there does not even have to be another person to play it. The secondary character just follows along and helps kick butt. If a second person wants to play, all they have to do is pick up a controller and take control of the secondary character. However, if that person has created their own character under their login, they cannot bring that character into the game. Now say you want to play online, so the second person in house can use their character. Then you had better have to 2 consoles and 2 game disc's.

Next up is how the game plays, you go from point a - b - c - d and back. Do not try to go into a house or out of bounds. Oh and if a door is locked, just go find something else to do and come back to it. The only map you get is of where you are, not of the world you have discovered.

Difficulty, a 10 year old would be bored with this game.

We are playing at difficulty normal, and after only 10 hours of play we are already half way thru the game (with Dungeon Siege 1 or 2, you might have been ΒΌ the way thru the game after 10 hours of play) We have yet to come across any unique weapons, armor, or jewelry. We have bought a few things, but for the most part have been able to get by on what we find.

This game reminds me of the very linear games of the 1980's & 90's such as King's Quest (Sierra Games), the first 2 or 3 Might and Magic's, Lands of Lore & Krondor .

I realize the first incantations of this game were on for a pc, where I played them, but come on Square Enix, did you really think you could make a great game anymore lame and no one would notice.

I'm going back to Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (which is also semi-linear) , but at least 2 of us sitting at home can play and earn credit for our achievements.

If you want to play are really awesome RPG, try The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it's single player, but one of the best RPG's around. Bethesda has been doing these for years and they really are the best.

I hope this review helps someone save some money.
