We finally have a great hack 'n slash/dungeon crawler on the PS3, and it's well worth playing.

User Rating: 8 | Dungeon Hunter: Alliance PS3
I was a little skeptical in getting Dungeon Hunter: Alliance like I am with most PSN games, especially since there wasn't really a demo to play. I'm glad I took the plunge though, because everything about the preview ended up being accurate with this one. Although it's mostly a Diablo clone that doesn't try much of anything new, Dungeon Hunter is the answer to anyone who owns a PS3 and is craving a great dungeon crawler to play.

GAMEPLAY - This is hack 'n slash dungeon crawling at its best. Those who have played Diablo, Titan Quest, or Dungeon Siege should feel right at home here. As one of three classes (warrior, rogue, or mage), you traverse large dungeons and areas of wilderness to complete quests and progress the story. There are different levels of items, tons of different skills, and multiple difficulty levels to all experiment with. And while I haven't dabbled in it yet, this game is supposed to be a lot of fun to play in co-op or online. My only problems with this game are that it is incredibly linear and has very cookie-cutter chapters to it. Some might also grow tired of the small variety of enemies you encounter, but this never bothered me. Overall though, this is a great game for those looking for something along these lines. - 8.5/10

STORY - The story isn't anything outstanding, but there is one nonetheless. I was also very impressed by the fact that the dialogue seems very natural rather than sounding really D&D-ish. I think most will be happy here, as this takes a stab at possessing a better story than most games of its kind. - 7/10

GRAPHICS - For this sort of game, the graphics are quite good. They actually rival some of the screenshots that have been released for Diablo 3, which definitely scores this game some points. Especially considering it is a PSN game. - 8.5/10

SOUND - While the graphics were great, there isn't really any voice-acting here, and the music and sound effects are just average. For a game like this though, it's almost better to just mute it and play your own music. Still nothing too bad though. - 7/10

LENGTH/REPLAY VALUE - Considering it took me 2 or 3 hours just to get through the first level and there is supposedly 30, this is definitely a game with a lot of longevity to it. Along with different levels of difficulty, I think it's safe to say that this game has a lot of value here. - 8.5/10

BOTTOM LINE - Dungeon Hunter isn't quite on the level of Diablo, but it is a very commendable hack 'n slash RPG. It's one of the best games available on the PSN right now, and at a pretty fair price. I would definitely recommend Dungeon Hunter for those who are eagerly awaiting Diablo 3's release, as it really accomplishes what it sets out to do. I doubt it will become as big a cult classic as games like Diablo were, but it's definitely a great way to waste away the hours alone or with friends in expansive dungeons full of monsters. - 8/10
