I am amazed of our brainwashed society of pseudo-gamers. At least read my review before giving me a thumb down.
What do we have today? FPS with brutal graphics but limited exploration, minimaps and even a pointer showing where to go and what to do, killing a couple of equal looking awkward enemies on your way. The protagonists suffer lack of character, charisma ... even looks and voice! The only good thing is the story, simply because every game today is like a movie. It's not like you are playing a game, but watching a movie .. maybe die a couple of times and replay one of the hundreds of cutscenes again ...
Somehow I knew how much hate will Duke Nukem Forever take when it came out. People think that 3D Realms worked every single day of this 12 years on the game and will be contemporary as Call of Duty and have better graphics than Crysis. People just don't understand what the game used to be. Again, I am so amazed how fast people forget.
Concerning the game itself - I can only say that this is the best FPS game I played in years. And trust me, I played every single fps game or at least 95% of them. Pure old school epicness. I even like the graphics - old school and simple. If you want realism - stand up from your PC and go out. This game is not supposed to be realistic at all. Not the shooting, not the physics, not the graphics. 3D Realms and Gearbox kept the hole Duke style from Duke Nukem 3D. That was exactly what they were supposed to do. Exactly what the real gamers had to expect.
Just to say that hates gonna hate, but this game does not deserve anything less than 9/10. In every aspect. The real connoisseurs and old school gamers will love this game. An absolute must! For all other 14 year-old "gamers": Skip this game.
