Duke Nuke'm Forever!

Wow, dont even know where to start, I have written and erased the opening in this review for a dussin times and still dont know where to begin.

I don't think the most annoying and at the same time loved stereotype hero need to be introduced, he's the frikk'n Duke Nuke'm, he'll keep on drinking beer, shooting pigs in the rear and look at posters of naked women until the planets stop.
This is simply why the game was called Duke Nukem Forever.

This game is partly directed to us lovers of Duke3D, we have been waiting for so many years that the little thin hair on our upper lip have became a giant musky beard, was this game worth the wait?

__ __ __ __ __ __ Story __ __ __ __ __ __

The Duke is on top of the world, he's the one everyone want, he has his name on every poster, and is the sole person who saved the world the last time aliens was invading.

This time around he's not wanted, all he knows is blasting away and drinking beer, the President have opened a fine contact with the aliens and will do perfectly fine without Duke's involvement.

Luckily to us this is just a charade to invade one more time, just as duke only knows to drink bee... ...the pigs only know one thing and that is to be made pork-shop, Duke'll see to that.

Many shooters have became realistic in their approach, Duke forever has'nt, this game don't try hard to invent the genre all over again, It just want to give you fun.

The controls are therfor quite arcade inspired, you aim and shoot, unlike modern FPS you have a limmited supply of ammo and a limited amount of weapons.
The weapons is various depending on what type of monster you would like to blast.

You will be puzzled at times and that is no overestimate, the maps are filled with various types of puzzle for you to solve, to be honest it's just like the old Duke3D game only much more advanced.
Some of the maps are even routed as a giant puzzle, there are only one way to go and that's thru the puzzle.

The approach of the game is a bit of trial and error, frustating as it may be this is a very rewarding type of gameplay as you feel on top of the world when you eventually got thru a very hard part, and note that many parts are really hard.

The devs. have been thinking inside the box, well in a good way I might add, they have been taking most parts from various games that they enjoy and put it together in a great variety, this game keep doing different things so often that you have no qlue at all where next chapter will take you.

__ __ __ __ __ __ Visual, Audio __ __ __ __ __ __

The Voice acting is just as silly you can imagine, the obscure comments delivered with such a comical perfection by Duke, likewise the people around Duke is so stupid that a alien pig growl seems more intelligent.

The sound overall is good mixed and the music adds a great amount of stress in the more though parts of the game.

The visual isn't the best seen today, but not the worst either, I would much like to be able to refine the quality with more AA/AF but the settings is quite thin, forcing more advanced settings in the graphic driver is a way around the ingame settings but it will somewhat destroy the image too by blurring it out.

The performance isn't a problem, the settings really isn't that demanding and will work on basicly any PC with a fairly decent dedicated graphic card.

This game has so much going on, and the best part is that it has a good lenghty gameplay, with the gametype changing very often you know you will find more and more advanced obstacle all the time to overcome.

This game very much appeal to me, sure naked women, beer and alien might appeal to very many but that part isn't the best part about the game, I'm sure some folk see this entire game as a gimmic never to be released, and to a degree I agree on that because they did need to go very far beond what a succsessor to D3D should have..

..But the game has a incredible sense of humor and a very great challenging playthru that appeal even beond the gimmics.
