Duke Nukem 3D is a fast paced, hard hitting solid shooter delivered straight to the N64. Weather it is blowin' up barrels, breakin glass or shootin' some ugly mutated pigs hardcore shooting fans are bound to have a good time!
Duke Nukem has just finished blowing up the last join of Alien slaughter only to get shot down, land on earth and find out that earth has been takken over by big ugly mutant *****rds.
Like I already mentioned, this is a solid fast paced explosive shooter. It plays quite simple, you go around shooting up stuff, blowwing every join you can and getting to the end of the level.
It sounds simple, but its alot harder. There are five difficulty levels ranging from 'Peice of cake' to whatever the hardest difficulty level is. There are many weapons you will find ranging from the basic pistol to a shotgun, Double semi - Machine guns, Grenade Launcher and Misile Launcher! Weapons can also handle different types of ammo too such as the Shotgun can have explosive shells and the Missile Launcher can have Heat Sinking missiles!
There are also a wide variety of items too such as Vitimin X which makes Duke run much faster, a Jetpack to make him fly and even night vision. Duke also has a number of ways to collect health from picking up medikits to drinking out of an exploded toilet.
In duke nukem, there is bound to be an enemy around every corner ready to be blown into peices! Amoungst the destructions you can cause, there will also be some heptic boss fights for you to endure.
There are some pretty neat level designs which are good for Multiplayer, enviroments are incredible detailed and interactive too! From playying a game of pool, looking at an arcade game (sorry no quarters to spend) or ringing someone on the phone. In shops you can see many different items for sale and including thoose many things you can blow up from cereal packets to cola.
About the multiplayer, you can do co-operitive on the single player missions which is twice the explosive action or you and four over duke-a-maniacs can battle it out on one of the many multiplayer arenas. You can also face the AI but that AI is pretty dimwitted and follows a simple path and won't go to most places you will.
Another problem with the game is that altough it is in 3d, it isnt in true 3D with many 2D sprites in a 3D world. It looks a bit like the DOOM engine only a lot neater looking.
So Duke Nukem 64 sounds good, plays good and looks good, you just can't go wrong with a hard-hitting solid shooter like this! Its what hardcore shooting fans have been looking for!
