Lucas Neill slides onto Aussie PES 2008 cover

Socceroos defender joins Cristiano Ronaldo on cover of the next Pro Evolution Soccer title.

He was one of the standout players in Australia's successful World Cup campaign last year, as well as being at the center of Aussie heartbreak after his slide tackle gave away the winning penalty to Italy in the round of 16 finals. Now Socceroos defender and West Ham United captain Lucas Neill is set to grace the cover of Konami's latest Pro Evolution Soccer title, which is set for release in November this year.

Neill will be joined by Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo on the front of PES 2008 games in Australia and New Zealand. Both football superstars will also be featured in point-of-sale materials for the game throughout the two countries. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS.

    i forgive the guy who thought he was stil with blackburn, aint no1 hardly ever see him since he joined the hammers wid all the injuries n dat, how can torres be a liverpool legend...when he signed couple months ago LOLOL

    i dont know... this lucas neil may be a good player, but i dont reckon konami did a great job picking him as one of the cover guys. i guess he was cheaper than others... i just think that someone more well-known would make the game look better, but you know what they say, looks isnt everything (yeah right...)

    One thing gamespot, Lucas neil tried to get the ball away and the itialian tripped over his legs on purpose(it was a dive). in the 90th minute too!

    Lucas Neill is captain of australia...of course he wil be on the cover instead of cristiano ronaldo or messi...seriously barely anyone in australia knows who the hell messi is.

    why the hell would they put a portugese or spanish player on the australian cover? incredibly weak marketing move if they did. Everyone knows who Lucas Neill is, hes more well known in Australia than Cristiano Ronaldo and certainly more known than Messi...

    Oh and to the fool who said he still plays for Blackburn..wow you are about 18 months behind the times....he moved to west ham AGES ago.

    i used to like Lucas Neil when he played for blackburn rovers,
    but ever since he turned down liverpool for more money and moved to West Ham i hate him,and i still dont get why him on the cover,
    there are far more competant players playing for australia,
    theres Cahill,Viduka,and not to forget Liverpool's own Harry Kewell,
    i wouldve gone with Kewell,and people you have to understand the reason why messi and C.Ronaldo are not on the AU cover because their not australian
