MLB 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars swings to DS

2K Sports bringing arcade-style baseball game featuring starting lineups of all 30 MLB teams exclusively to Nintendo's handheld in April.

Though the future of Take-Two's Sports label has been called into question due to recent acquisition advances by rival Electronic Arts, the publisher isn't holding off on announcing new games from the division. As first sleuthed out on the Entertainment Software Rating Board's online database in January, 2K Sports officially took the wraps off of Major League Baseball 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars, which will be arriving exclusively for the Nintendo DS this April.

Capitalizing on 2K's exclusive third-party rights to the MLB license, developer Deep Fried Entertainment has loaded the game with the starting lineups of all 30 Major League Baseball clubs. However, fantasy gamers will be able to customize their rosters to create their own unique teams and then play in a variety of exotic North American locales, including Florida's Everglades and "the Frozen North."

Fantasy All-Stars will heavily incorporate the DS's touch-screen controls, allowing players to swing, pitch, field, and base run by using the stylus. Gamers will also be able to compete in a variety of modes, including exhibition matches or fantasy pennant mode, as well as an All-Star training minigame compilation. The game also features both local and online head-to-head multiplayer action.

    the only great baseball game i ever played on a handheld was the gameeboy Bases Loaded. maybe the DS one will be as fun as that game was

    Finally, we have a chance to get a good baseball game for the DS. I'll cry if its good and sob if its bad. Either way, just glad to see a baseball game coming out.

    Have you even played it yet murlow? I don't think so. Don't knock something until you try it or a review is out.

    I don't get how people can bash something that isn't out nor has been reviewed.

    I can't imagine what kind of gamer would want to play this junk. Sports on the DS just don't work, so give it up already.

    I dunno about the rest of you, but I can import baseball games from Japan and play them on the DS. Language barrier be damned, I urge people who want baseball on the DS to at least try out the Power Pro-kun franchise, especially Power Pro-kun 10

    Hopefully this game turns out to be decent. The DS definitely needs a good baseball game, as there is currently only one out for the system, and it blows. Please, Take-Two give the DS a good baseball game. With the touch control the potential for DS baseball is unlimited.

    Why the DS? The Wii would be a much more obvious pick for an arcade baseball game.

    Sounds like it could be interesting, but I've never been a fan of sports games. We'll see.

    I love 2K sports but the MLB2K series is the Madden of the baseball world but i'll hold my judgment on this since i've never played it

    Um... This isn't a port. It says "exclusively for the Nintendo DS" in the very first paragraph.

    Ugh, please give up on the hardcore ports to the DS/Wii. PLEASE. It'll just make the full, real product on the current gen consoles that much better if you don't have any stupid ports.
