EA piles on E3 lineup

Publisher slots in more than 30 titles from its holiday 2008 slate for next week's expo; highlights include Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Spore, Warhammer Online, Rock Band 2, Left 4 Dead.

Today, Activision and Vivendi Games dotted the last i in a long-in-the-making business combination that will effectively create a new leader in the third-party game software publishing business. However, with Activision Blizzard set to skip out on this year's E3 Media & Business Summit, Electronic Arts will still be the big kahuna at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Living up that title, the publisher said that that it will have a whopping 30-plus games on show from its holiday 2008 lineup. Perennial sports favorites, such as Madden NFL, NCAA Football, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, and NBA Live will, of course, be on show, but EA also has an extensive lineup of new properties it will have on offer. New IPs on display include EA Dice's first-person parkour-inspired action game Mirror's Edge, EA Redwood Shores' survival horror game Dead Space, and EA Maxis' much-anticipated sim-everything Spore.

Other highlights from EA's E3 presence include EA Mythic's long-in-development massively multiplayer online role-playing game Warhammer Online, which was finally dated for release later this year. EA-owned Pandemic will have a pair of titles on hand: the oft-delayed Mercenaries 2 and The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, a new action adventure based on Peter Jackson's J.R.R. Tolkien-inspired films.

EA Partners will also be well represented at the show. Crytek's Crysis Warhead, a spin-off to last year's critically acclaimed PC shooter, will join Left 4 Dead, a survival horror shooter from Valve-owned Turtle Rock Studios. The Harmonix-developed, MTV Games-published, EA-distributed Rock Band 2, which will lead on the Xbox 360 this September, will also be part of EA's cavalcade.

yomama15, What you talking about. Blizzard is one of the best companies that put out good games. I can't wait for Diablo 3 even though I was trying to figure out on how they were going to pull it off.

To accuse a video game company of rushing games for Christmas profits is simply just cruel. They would NEVER do such a thing, THORINATOR!! You are so jaded!!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to pick up my big bag of money from EA for posting this comment on their behalf and have a scalding hot shower to scrub away my guilt!

Alot of good games in this list...hope they're not just rushing them for the sake of Christmas profits! Looking forward to LOTR: Conquest, Dead space & Mercenaries! Loads of great looking games on the way, Can't wait!
