FIFA 08, NBA 08 covered

Altidore, Ochoa named to grace North American boxes of EA's soccer sim; Amare Stoudemire to front Sony's PlayStation b-baller for a second time.

In May, Electronic Arts revealed that Ronaldinho would be the international cover athlete for FIFA 08. The publisher also announced that in soccer-mad Europe, many territories would see their own local stars join the Brazilian-born FC Barcelona striker on the game's box. Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos would be FIFA 08's cover player in Spain, Miroslav Klose in Germany, Andreas Ivanschitz in Austria, Tranquillo Barnetta in Switzerland, and Florent Malouda and Franck Ribéry in France.

Though the British cover athlete for the game is yet to be announced, today EA announced who will grace the North American packaging of FIFA 08 when it arrives later this year. New York Red Bulls striker Josmer "Jozy" Altidore and Mexican-born Club América goalie Guillermo Ochoa will flank Ronaldinho on the game's cover in all territories north of the Panama Canal. The move makes the 17-year-old Altidore the second-youngest athlete ever to appear an EA Sports game cover, after the then-16-year-old DC United midfielder Freddy Adu was chosen to be on FIFA 06's box.

In other sports game news, Sony Computer Entertainment America has selected Amare Stoudemire as the cover athlete for NBA 08. It will be the second time the Phoenix Suns power forward--who also participated in the 2006 All-Star Game and 2004 Athens Olympics--has been on the cover of an SCEA basketball sim, after NBA 06 two years ago. NBA 08 will ship for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable in October.

Fifa gameplay is too fast and very straight foward like the Premier league, PES is more relaxed with more freedom, ball movements and more realistic abilities to dribble like the Brazilian league. However, Fifa has more options for single game play, more choices for entertainment and a bomb a s s management mode, PES on the other hand, gets kind of boring if you dont have anybody else to play with...thats why they are both cool, if you are a REAL futebol/football/soccer fan, BUY THEM BOTH and stop offending the sport's games!!!!!!

Vai Brasil! treis a zero na Argentina!!!!! woooohoooooooo!

The British cover will probably have Gerrard and John Terry/Rooney i couldnt care less but buying a game that has Rooney on the cover of it makes me feel sick oow well i can always get a huge plaster to cover his ugly mush.

    @ macca2222

hey put the players on the cover that are originally from that part of the country. The reason why A player from Mexico is on the cover is because the game is aimed at a North American audience. Personally I'd rather have someone like Clint Dempsey, Taylor Tellman, or Jimmy Conrad on the cover. Jozy will have plenty of time to get on there later

why dont they let Americans have more real footballers on their cover...Lampard maybe, Drogba or Kaka' i'm keeping in mind that the american and mexican players on the cover are both good but they definently wouldn't be in the league of those guys

and on the topics of Americans trying to patent the name "football" for NFL.......... what part of your body do you use again??? oh thats right YOUR FOOT hence the name FOOTball

I really can't wait to kick off first football (soccer) game on PS3 since releasing console last year.

Btw, the cover seems ugly, theres a better picture for Ronaldinho instead of this one. hes gonna scare us

@Boobush: Actually, I think it's the fourth mexican in a row.
    2005: Oswaldo Sanchez
    2006: Omar "putete" Bravo
    2007: Kikin Fonseca
    2008: Memo Ochoa

And it isnt surprising as I think it's the most played game/sport in Mexico (on any gaming plataform and in real life), so expect more mexicans to make it to FIFA's covers...Castillo or Guardado are up next I guess.

Soccer, Football, Futbol, Futebol, Fussball, calzio, kick-the-round-thingie... call it what you like, it's still the same sport. Love it, hate it or ignore it. NO IN-BETWEEN POINTS!! j/k

why does everytime soccer or football whatever you want to call it comes up people from europe go crazy bashing americans, what they do,and there sports? In all the madden forums and comment things like this do you see us going "this is the real football not some pu55y sport where all you do is kick things" no you dont. just because soccer isnt the most popular sport here doesnt mean we dont have the right to play the games and doesnt give you the right to bash our country

Ratboys...try playing it on a harder setting and then tell me that or better still play it online or even with a friend. Unless the other player is terrible you'll have a hard time scoring or even getting past the defence. Don't believe me ...? Got a 360 with pro?......then send me a game invite my gamertag is DJ NME. I'll show you why it's all about Pro.

And everyone listen to rulo_reznor....the rest of the world can't be getting it wrong......IT IS FOOTBALL.....anyway american football is just a pu55y version of rugby.
