FIFA 08 kicks off across platforms

This year's version of the popular football game will be coming to a multitude of formats--and the covers will feature Ronaldinho.

It may not come as a great surprise after FIFA 07 was named the best-selling title of 2006 that FIFA 08 has been confirmed by EA Sports. The latest game in the series will be coming worldwide this autumn to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and mobile phones.

Barcelona midfielder Ronaldinho will feature on the front of FIFA boxes for the third time in a row, alongside various other players across Europe. Miroslav Klose of Werder Bremen will also be on packaging in Germany, Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid in Spain, Andreas Ivanschitz of Panathinaikos FC in Austria, and Tranquillo Barnetta of Bayer Leverkusen in Switzerland. Florent Malouda of Olympique Lyonnais and Frank Ribery of Olympique Marseille will appear alongside Ronaldinho on the cover of the game in France. His cover mates for the UK and US will be announced next month.

The listed stars will also be motion captured for the game, which will be developed by EA Canada in Vancouver.

I'm really looking forward to FIFA 08, I that the game will be really good. We all have seen the screenshots from the game and it looks good. I also have watched some gameplay videos where they introduce some new features when you're playing and it looks good.

About the issue whether Ronaldinho should be on the cover, it's not a big issue but i agree with most of the users here at GameSpot that it would be nice to see a new face. In the old days there was always a new player at the front. I personally would like to see Paul Scholes on the cover again (he was in 2001 ps2 edition), Scholes is a hero

i think they should make a retro fifa game featuring the 60's 70's 80's and 90's , when real football was made and maradona , pele and beckenbauer should be on the covers

I'd say FIFA has a good chance of challenging PES this time round. Last year's Konami offering was lazy, particularly with regards to the 360 version. FIFA on the other hand has been making a lot of progress and I think PES should start thinking about a few improvements of its own to stay ahead.
