UK game chart: February 11-17

Battlestations: Midway plummets as the franchises take control once more; Supreme Commander debuts well.

Even as it began to leave the post-Christmas lull behind, last week's UK all-format games chart was still heavily under the influence of franchises that have dominated for some months. FIFA 07 returned to the top of the chart, followed by fellow EA title Need for Speed Carbon and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Winning Eleven: 2007 in the US) in second and third.

Supreme Commander was one of only two titles to breathe some life into the top 10, making its debut at four a fairly respectable achievement for a PC-only title. Budget release Little Britain slipped down to five, while Avatar: The Legend of Aang was the only other game enjoying its first week among the elite, rising from last week's chart entry at 13.

The Sims 2: Pets, last week's number one Battlestations: Midway, Sega Mega Drive Collection (Sega Genesis Collection in the US), and Lost Planet: Extreme Condition rounded out the last four places in the top 10.

This week's releases include some big hitters that will no doubt impact next week's chart. On Friday, Final Fantasy XII finally lands in the UK, open-ended action title Crackdown hits the shelves, and the PSP version of The Warriors is set to beat its way into the shops.

    wtf pro 6 should be first respectively and okami second. fifa has been a failure for the past years and somehow people still buy it. i use to be a fifa fan but after i discovered pes i said down with fake football and to real mans game and am suprised nfs carbon is up there this time cus it was a failure also y shud i race in the dark that was a stupid idea

    I hate living in the UK.
    Crap like Fifa and NFS are there but no REAL games!
    **** UK! And Little Britain, maybe the worst game ever, is in there too.

    I have Okami too and it's also ludricous that the game isn't up there in the UK charts.

    I don't know what's worse: The dreaded curse of cars on the top spot for many weeks or the curse of fifa... and I agree with masterspeed4 that most chavs have helped fifa gain top spot.

    anton10000 Am I the only one who bought Okami? No your not I've got a copy. Problem is that there's limited marketing of the game and its a single format game only despite the strength of the PS2.

    Fifa...the only reason it is top is cuz there is to many CHAV IN ENGLAND!!! EVERY SEND ME A MESSEGE IF YOU WANT CHAVS YOBS AND OTHER A$$HOLES OUT OF OUR COUNTRIE!!!

    Everytime I check out the UK charts, the same game that is known as FIFA is No.1 !

    I hate football and I hate the games even more and I know that a lot of people that live in the UK live and breath on football but this is just ridiculous! What will it take to knock this off the top spot!? With no Okami even in the top 10, you can see that a large population of the UK have no real taste when it comes to REAL games (and I live in the UK btw).

    I own FIFA, but even I think it's lasted too long in the charts, where's Okami? That game deserves a great chart position.

    WTF is avatar doing there? I live in the UK and never heard of it. It got like 5.6 it seems. Man, well thats what happens when we get delays in the UK and have to wait longer for the good games.

    i am ashamed at the UK list and im from the UK. Why football all the time, it sucks! it seems that 99% of britains have a bad taste in games, and im not in it, the only game i would consider buying in that list is lost planet. Hopefully the list will look better once ff12 is out, it SHOULD change it all and SHOULD get the number 1 spot, it probably wont though, it will probably still be football.

    I wouldn't be surprised if FFXII doesn't stay at the top spot longer than a week, marketing for it has been minimal at best.
    Infact I wouldn't totally dismiss brain training coming back in at some point (sad though that is). Considering there was some great games out on the PS2 this week (Okami & Godhand) seeing Sims Pets & Need For Speed is really rather sad.
