UK game chart: February 4-10

Battlestations: Midway flies straight in at number one, while Little Britain beats the football games into second. "Yeah, I know."

Eidos is celebrating the success of World War II strategy game Battlestations: Midway, as it has landed atop the UK all-formats chart based on sales for the week of February 4-10. It was followed closely by a resurgent Little Britain The Video Game--a series of minigames based on the popular UK television comedy series--which went up from 14th to number two.

Perennial football favourites FIFA 07 and Pro Evolution Soccer 6 simply refused to go away and took third and fourth respectively, while arcade classics bundle Sega Mega Drive Collection fell a place to fifth.

Capcom's Xbox 360 action game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was the biggest faller in the top 10, dropping to sixth from last week's number one spot, while Need for Speed Carbon, The Sims 2: Pets, New Super Mario Bros., and Cars filled out the rest of the top 10.

Other notable new entries included THQ's Avatar: The Legend of Aang at 13 and the critically acclaimed Okami, which made its debut at 17.

Among the games to look out for in UK stores this week (and likely to dent the chart next week) are Supreme Commander (PC), ArmA: Armed Assault (PC) from 505 Game Street, God Hand (PlayStation 2), and Nintendo's Excite Truck (Wii).

Wow some British Gamers have no taste and just buy the rubbish that is advertised the most, Okami should be doing alot better really.

Where is the Wii? Oh..that's right! There is only crap on the Wii. The only steller game being a sequel to Zelda. Typical.

Okami at 17!!! That is outrageous! Little Britain is an offensive game that is a complete waste of time, money and effort. Okami is a glorious game that has been crafted with care and dedication and it shows the moment you put the disc into the PS2. Little Britain is a poor excuse of a game, a terrible cash-in and awful.

I am from the UK and just hate the fact that great games such as Okami (only getting 17) and that get basically shunned because of crap like Little Britain. The show is decent at best but this does not deserve to be a video game and that it is in No 2 just goes to show that some people here are gullible and believe that if the show is great, the game should be too. Also, a majority of the game's copies sold were probably for kids anyway and of course, fans of the series.

Yes, Cars has been out since June and that it is still up there because the fact it is on like every bloody system out at the moment (bar the PS3) and wouldn't be surprised if a PS3 version came out for it.

Just going to say you can keep your FIFA, NFS, Pro Evo and the rest of the garbage in the Top Ten (except for New Super Mario Bros and SMDC), as I rather play a underappreciated classic than a popular sports game or played-out franchises.

Mate the majority of the mulitformat games in the charts are selling strong primarily due to the number of PS2 owners- fact. If the chart was broken down into PS2, Xbox, 360 and Wii the PS2 would still win overall. Okami's just been released and with FFXII & God of War 2 to follow expect software sales of the new gen to lag behind. And btw the PS3 pre-orders have just broken the record at Woolworths (major highstreet retailer) with more to follow I'm sure.
