UK Game Charts: December 3-9

FIFA 07 scores a hat trick of number ones; The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess debuts at number five.

Electronic Arts' FIFA 07 scooped the top slot in the UK all-formats games chart for the third consecutive week, with Need for Speed Carbon again spinning its wheels at number two. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 moved up one place to three, swapping places with Activision's Call of Duty 3, which fell one slot to fourth position.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess debuted at the number five slot, making it the highest new entry this week. In total, six of the 14 Wii launch games made it into the all-formats top 40, including Wii Play (which can be bought only as a bundle with the Wii Remote) at nine, Red Steel at 19, and Rayman Raving Rabbids at 30.

There are also a total of 14 Nintendo DS games in the top 40, including Yoshi's Island DS at 36--which almost doubled sales in its second week of release--and Dr Kawashima's Brain Training (Brain Age in the US) still hanging on in the charts at 13.

Those figures mean that Nintendo has a total of 20 games for its formats in the top 40 this week.

The biggest climber of the week was Project Gotham Racing 3, up 14 spots to 22, whereas the dubious honour of the biggest freefall goes to Bratz: Forever Diamondz, down nine ticks to 20.

This Friday's releases include five for the Wii: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Super Fruit Fall, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent, SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab, and Gottlieb Pinball Classics. Other titles due include The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the GameCube, Sniper Assault for the PlayStation 2, and The Sims 2: Pets for the PSP.

to dbzboy1510, I live in America, and I happen to love soccer in fact I often wonder why it's called soccer instead of football over here, anyway, the thought that all Americans are fat and hate soccer is a gross stereotype( although, America is the fattest nation in the world, ill give you that). baseball is boring, and American football is the gayest sport ive ever seen. basketball and soccer rule!

and to JamesGangBand, Wtf Is wrong with you! Soccer games are way better than football games, and lots of people who love games also love sports, no matter where they live!
If gamers didn't like sports games then why is a soccer game #1 in the Uk charts?

If only the world wasn't hypnotised by the word 'Sony'. Then they would see that the Xbox 360 and Wii were way better than their peice of junk. AND You can buy the x360 and wii for the same price as the ps3!!!!!

I don't like football; bend over baby.

I don't know if this is a trend in the chats that new releases never get to #1 or not, but I would expect Twilight Princess to be higher. I know that TP sales are limited by how many Wiis there are out there (far more PS2s and 360s for example) but I would have expected it in the top three. I couldn't see FIFA '07 not being #1, as it is a football game being released on pretty much all consoles.

the reason america doesnt like football or soccer for them is because they are the fattest nation in the world followed by mexico in the near future, the average american finds it hard to walk under a mile rather they will use a car or bus etc. i like basketball but american football..no its crazy, people run around like they found a cure for aids. european footballers (uk) get paid more than the average paid baseball player put together with b ball and footballers (us) in a month. guys like ronaldo (man U) or gerrard get paid 90,000 a week. american football is just a cheap sport that stold the name football that was invented by an english. so those who dun like football (uk) can kiss my black ***

to killerfist, even in England it used to be quite common to call rugby "football" since rugby grew out of that sport. Modern american football is an evolved form of rugby, and since rugby was more popular than soccer in America during the games formative stages it makes perfect sense that it recieved the name. Oh, and I don't like most sports games nor the sports they're based on, so you're wrong about James being the only one. Unless that was just hyperbole, but someone as concerned about the exact propriety of using the word "football" correctly would never be caught abusing words in that fashion, would you?

You are an idiot. This is the UK game chart ... And a lot of gamers do like sports. Just because you are too lazy to get up off your arse and actually enjoy playing a sport or you don't have the attention span to enjoy watching sport, don't lump the rest of us in with you.

    Lol @ Aaron_130.
Lol @ no PS3 in Europe until March.

PS2 titles are not beating out Zelda. The 4 games at top are listed as PS2 versions but the sales are actually combined of all the different versions og the game. Zelda is donig fantastic to get into the top 10 for a system just released so shut up idiotic Sony fanboy!

Nintendo has got to be loving the UK right now. And the guy that came up with the idea / specification for the DS should have gotten a big fat raise.

Look at the dates? 3rd to the 9th.. the Wii was released on the 8th. I surprised it managed to get a game on the chart at all considering it have only 2 days to sell any games and systems.

    @ GTCzeero

Mate, the wii has just been released, of course its not gonna have tons of games selling out as there are not enough consoles PRODUCED let alone sold for there to be enough people to take on a console that has been out for years and has shipped something like 120 million, in fact the number already sold is actually quite amazing considering how few wiis there are compared to PS2s. Oh, and I own a wii and I can tell you that it looks fantastic, not PS3/360 level graphics but good enough for me and the motion sensing is amazing and while it may have been possible to have motion sensing before the combination of technology used in the console makes it AWESOME, had the most fun gaming on it than I have with normal consoles in long a time.

2 Wii games in the charts over 4 PS2 ones? That's gotta hurt Nintendo. have you compared the Wii Call of Duty to the PS2 one? They look exactly the same, it's not next-gen, the whole motion thing could have been done any time! (Might still buy one though for Zelda!)

I have to agree with the guy a few posts down gears of war should be number one or at least zelda."

Whatever you think of the sport, it doesn't change the fact that Pro Evo and FIFA are still brilliantly made, consistently excellent games. If you are too blind in your hatred of football to recognise that then that's your problem. Both games always score highly. To be honest my guess is either you have never played the games for any length of time yourself because you have some sort of prejudice against the sport or else you didn't have enough understanding of football to enjoy the games properly. Either way it is your fault, not the fault of the games.
