Ubisoft steps up to My Weight Loss Coach

Publisher confirms Nintendo's portable slimming game to ship worldwide for the DS this summer; becomes My Health Coach: Weight Management for Europe.

Of the two current Nintendo video game machines, the Wii is the most well known for attempting to keep gamers fit. First, there was Wii Sports, which comes bundled with the console (unless you live in Japan), and next will be the upcoming Wii Fit, which will come with a balance board to chart gamers' progress. Third-party publishers also have a bevy of similar fitness-themed titles in the works, including Namco Bandai's Active Life: Athletic World (working title).

Now, the DS is getting in on the weight-watching action, thanks to Ubisoft, which has announced My Health Coach: Weight Management (known as My Weight Loss Coach in the US). The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal and is due for release in both territories this summer.

My Health Coach's unique selling point is that it will come with a pedometer, which will count the steps players walk every day. The pedometer slots into the DS and downloads the day's total. It will then let gamers know how far they've travelled and when they've, for example, walked the equivalent of the Great Wall of China.

The game is designed to be played for around 10 to 15 minutes every day. According to today's statement, "Instead of putting you under pressure and setting you distant objectives, it is a fun, short, and rewarding method to help you and guide you, step by step, to a healthier, more balanced lifestyle."

Since when are Europeans fat? Specifically the French? Its quite well known that the French are not fat. How can you discard one of the more famous books: Why French Women Are Not Fat? Seriously man check yourself before you break yourself.

android_M, stop being a xenophobe. I think this could be good for people who don't exercise at all and want to start lightly, but I don't think it's gonna work if you exercise often.

I wouldn't say this is the best option, but I'd imagine it'd be fairly useful to someone concerned with their weight.

That's awesome. Great way to trick all of North America's fatties into exercising and eating well while thinking they're playing a game.

At this point the DS and Wii are going to become sold at health stores instead of gaming stores

What r they talking about? the Wii isnt the only console that attempts to make gamers keep fit. I bench press my PS3 every morning. U should see how big my biceps are just after a month.

lol this is like using DDR for weight loss. gimme a damn break. While i am glad to see gaming spill in EVERY facet of life, if you really wanna do something about your health and weight, go OUTSIDE and play some soccer, run, whatever, just do something. Also a great idea could possibly be to go to the gym, and workout. You never know, you might gain something from that.
Stop counting and measuring, just stay active and eat healthy, who cares about this crap!!!!

If this was for the 360 I would get all the achievements for this game as long as it is like Avatar.

This is a pretty stellar idea, but will it work well? I never thought of using my DS to count my steps.
