Full Metal Alchemist DS US-bound

Destineer conjures up North American publishing deal for side-scrolling action game Full Metal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy.

American fans of the anime Fullmetal Alchemist have had plenty of opportunities to get their game on with the characters of the animated series...provided they had a PlayStation 2 or Game Boy Advance. When news of a Nintendo DS Fullmetal Alchemist game spread, many owners of Nintendo's handheld rejoiced...provided they lived in Japan.

Now, North American DS-owning Fullmetal Alchemist fans can finally join in on the fun, as Destineer today announced that it is releasing Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy in the US. The Minneapolis-based publisher will release the Bandai-developed game this fall.

Dual Sympathy is a side-scrolling action game that sees players take the role Edward Elric as he battles Homunculi and sets out on a quest to retrieve the Philosopher's Stone. The six playable characters in the game will have the ability to concoct weapons from various items (hence, the alchemy) and turn them on enemies.

The DS version will also feature voice work from the actors in the television series, unlockable content, and 10 touch-screen-based minigames.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy has not yet been rated or priced.

Yeah, to the passed 3 guys. When I first saw this I was so geared up!! I was expecting a basic RPG type of game with MAJOR hints of the game "Lost Magic" for the DS if your not sure what LM is then you use the bottom screen to do different symbols to cast spells.

You can combine different symbols further on that are more difficult just like a circle and a square to make a small horse figurine and very complicated ones for a Philosopher's Stone. Sadly though this is just going to be a side scrolling game, a numb hack-and-slash .

People that watch and understand this show will want more substance than press A and the odd use of alchemy, or pulling a rope. Well that is to say me anyway, the amount of main class characters that get killed you can't be a kid , ((or a sane one)) which is what this sort of game usually gets passed off onto.

I know I haven't played the game but that's just what I got from the review and I guess I will be buying it anyway hoping I'm wrong.

Sorry to the people who love FMA and this game just for that but sadly that aint me.

    So Flame Away!

Well Shadowbinded, thats true, except in the case of the pokemon games (the rpg color ones (gold, silver, red etc.) not the spinoffs like the trozei and dungeon rescue team)

cloud1914 is right... games like these highly depend on how many people are fans that will buy the game just because they like the series.. just cuz the TVshow is good doesn't mean the game is good.

Looks like another game depending on the success of the show rather than gameplay.

If its anything like Castlevania it'll be decent. FMA has been killed since it debuted here in the states. Frankly, the PS2 iterations all sucked. I probably won't buy the game, although the Japanese version of FMA is my favortie anime series.
