Bestbuy.com best sellers: October 15-21

Sam Fisher zip lines to top, zombies rise again, Bully overcomes criticisms, and guess what's back...Nintendogs.

With the launch of the PlayStation 3 and Wii just a few weeks away, Microsoft is savoring its last moments as the lone next-gen console on the market. Three of the four top-selling games from Bestbuy.com last week were Xbox 360 titles, which likely won't be the case once the console's competitors hit the market.

The online retailer's best-selling game for the week of October 15 to 21 was Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent for the Xbox 360--the next-gen debut for the stealth franchise. Second place went to Capcom's Dead Rising, which continues to see brisk sales as an Xbox 360 exclusive. The final Xbox 360 game in the top 10 was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, which debuted this week in the fourth spot.

Nintendo's Touch Generation games, which preach brain over brawn, continue their splash here in the US with four titles in the top 10. Chart mainstay Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day landed in third, the pooches of Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends clawed into fifth, Big Brain Academy took seventh, and the compilation Clubhouse Games was ninth. Noticeably missing from the chart was another DS game--New Super Mario Bros.

The final three spots went to PlayStation 2 games. Rockstar Games' Bully overcame heaps of controversy and pummeled its way to seventh. The previous week's chart topper, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 for the PS2, dropped to ninth on the leaderboard, while the PS2 version of Madden NFL 07, which has a shot at best-selling game of the year, hung tight in 10th.

people who think the ps3 game sales are going to beat out the 360 game sales have no logic. theres only going to be 400,000 ps3's while there are millions of 360's. are you trying to say that everyone who buys a ps3 is going to buy 2 or 3 copies of the same game?! rofl...morons.

now the wii on the other hand...i could see twilight princess selling a million copies since its a must have for the wii and there will be plenty of consoles around.

Dead Rising was on sale that week for $39.99 at Best Buy. That *might* account for the "brisk sales". I bought one and a 360. Also got them to price match (with Circuit City) a free Microsoft wireless controller too.

That´s a pretty fanboyish statement for a Gamespot employee.

I´m not about which company "rules". I´m about good games.

"I hate Dead Rising! I can't find out why people like it so much. It's wayyyyyy too hard. " Maybe cuz you are just the onlyone who is bad at it or it's an actualy good game that a lot of people always wanted to do but could not in real life.

Why do so many people like Madden? In my opinion that game was never good. ESPN NFL football is the best NFL game ever made. GO YOU DALLAS COWBOYS GO!!!

Correct me if my logic is wrong on this but i believe the reason you consistently see these 360 games in the top 10 in sales even though it has less than 15% of the installed base that Sony has is because the majority of 360 owners are adults, have jobs and a car to get them to the store to buy games. You may have millions of consoles in the hands of your consumers but if none of them can buy your games what good does it do you?

I think Gears of War will be 1st next month, think about it. It will mostlikly sell 1 million next month, and with the Ps3 selling 500.000 units its impossible a game from that console to surpass it. Same to wii ( i am talking about US)

If they keep releasing hits like Gears of War, there going to have nothing to worry about.

    Halo 3 anyone?

You can't hate dead rising, it isn't that hard, it is just a game that requires a little bit of dedication to get going, it's awesome when you get going.

Just keep playing it, your character gets stronger, more health, and new moves.

It's going to be interesting to see FFXII sales vs Gears of War sales this November. What's your bet?
