Brain Age reaches sales milestone
Cerebral treadmill sells more than 4 million worldwide, more than 3 million in Japan; Europe's Brain Age sales off to a fast start since June release.
To get an idea of how successful Nintendo's Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day has become, one need only look at the recent sales charts from the US, UK, and Japan. The game has been on the market for months but still lies firmly planted in the top 10, largely surrounded by new releases.
While positions on charts are a fair barometer of a game's success, good old-fashioned sales figures generally leave any doubts behind. Today, Nintendo released the latest global sales numbers of the game, and they reveal that millions of gamers enjoy brainteasers.
Worldwide, the game has sold more than 4 million copies, with Japan leading the way at more than 3 million units. In the US, the game has sold more than 600,000 copies since its release in April and was the second-best-selling game that week, according to the sales charts from Best Buy.
But the most impressive figure comes from across the Atlantic, where more than 500,000 gamers have picked up a copy of Brain Age. The game was released in Europe in June, and it reached the half-million mark in just nine weeks, outpacing even Japan, which took 16 weeks to break 500,000.
Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day is rated E for Everyone and retails for $19.99. For more information, read GameSpot's full review.
