UK game charts: January 20-27

Lost Planet shakes off The Burning Crusade to rediscover the top slot, while football titles continue to prove popular.

It was all change at the top of the UK all-formats chart for the week of January 20-27 as Lost Planet: Extreme Condition found its way back to number one. The previous week's top achiever, Blizzard's World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, slipped down to five, while football titles FIFA 07 and Pro Evolution Soccer 6 took second and third, respectively.

Wii Play rose seven places to four, although the other Wii-exclusive title, WarioWare Smooth Moves, dropped to six. World Snooker Championship 2007 (World Pool Championship 2007 in the US) fell one place to seven, and Need for Speed Carbon did likewise, dropping to eight.

Another title that did well was the animated movie tie-in Cars, which found its way back into the top 10 this week in ninth place. Call of Duty 3 rounded things off at 10, down two from last week.

There were no new entries inside the top 40 this week, but there are a handful of titles that should make some impact on next week's list. These include strategy game Europa Universalis III, arcade classics bundle Sega Megadrive Collection (Sega Genesis Collection in the US), and Atari's game version of the Arthur and the Invisibles film.

I love this Game, but the whole Thermal Energy pack kill's it. I love the graphics, guns, Xbox live, & mostly everthing about it. Only if there was multiplayer for 4 players in one screen...... And im surprised that cars got top ten. I dont blame them, my little brother even got that game.

@miiiguel With a Japanese game, remember. This time of year there is no PS2 competition. If Capcom release this game on PS2, would sale a lot of more. God of War will be out soon. With 100 million vs 10 million, should be a easy win.

10.5 million consoles (360) vs 100 million (PS2) and still it's a 360 title that tops the chart. LOST PLANET RULES!!!!!!!!

Don't think for one moment that game developers aren't noticing that the 360 has this tiny installed base yet most new releases for it end as a top selling titles. The math is pretty easy to deduce, 360 owners are willing to buy games, it is no wonder almost every week we see another "exclusive" title get a 360 version.

10.5 million consoles (360) vs 100 million (PS2) and still it's a 360 title that tops the chart. Impressive! Now some can continue to say that the 360 is but an US-only console...!, and look ridicule...

    meimnobody:

Dude, i WORK in a second hand store, i've served lots of customers who like the Wii, btu feel there is not enough of a selection of games yet, and are selling it for the mediocre profit so they can wait and buy it again further down the line.

Yes there are also people scalping them, i am fully aware of that fact. But there are also a large number of people taking advantage of the hightened demand, while being underwhelmed with the Wii's current gaming selection, people who fully intend to buy one at a later date, but not with the consoles current weak selection of games.

Don't get me wrong, i love the thing, but currently, it has next to nothing to play, Zelda is not very good, i played it all the way through before you ask, and Wario Ware will get boring quickly for a single player junkie like myself, although it is a truly awesome game.

There will be a much larger selection come march.

munsoned USA numbers come out each month. However NPD has put the skids to a lot of posting about the numbers since the NPD charges several grand for that data. Gamespot has never posted compelte NPD data nor the game sale numbers which other sites like Neogaf.com do.
