Shippin' Out Nov. 30-Dec. 6: Prince of Persia, GTAIV PC

Game industry begins to unwind as headliners are joined by Destroy All Humans, Mushroom Men, and SingStar Abba.

Following a torrent of releases leading up to Black Friday last week, the game industry is finally gearing down to ride out the rest of the year. The creek has not yet run completely dry, however.

This week, the highest-profile release is Ubisoft's Prince of Persia. A franchise reboot following the Sands of Time trilogy, the Prince's first outing on Microsoft and Sony's current-gen hardware features an all-new cel-shaded art style. Once again, the titular nobleman will be scaling rooftops in a fantastical setting, and this time he will team up with a new heroine, Elika. A side-scrolling Nintendo DS edition of the game also joins the console and PC versions this week. For an early look at what to expect from Prince of Persia, check back later today for GameSpot's live gameplay marathon.

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto franchise makes its triumphant return to the PC space this week, more than seven months after the retail heavyweight impacted the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Rockstar's Toronto studio has made a number of tweaks to the port of the top-rated game, sprucing up graphics, adding a movie editor, and upping the multiplayer player count to 32.

Other than that, this week has a few other notable releases on the agenda. Though the PS3 edition has been indefinitely shelved, THQ and Sandblast will launch Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon for the Xbox 360. Red Fly Studios' Mushroom Men--one of the flagship games under now-Southpeak-owned Gamecock Media Group--arrives for the Wii and DS, while Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories spins its tale on the PlayStation 2. Sony's current and last-gen console will also see the release of SingStar Abba, featuring the '70s Swedish supergroup behind such hits as "Dancing Queen."

Rare's Banjo-Kazooie, which had previously been announced for last week, represents Microsoft's weekly Wednesday addition to Xbox Live. A redux of the Nintendo 64 original, the game ties in to Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (released to much acclaim in November) and also sports a graphical update. It will be available for 1,200 Microsoft points ($15).

Nintendo's WiiWare has two new games this week. Space Invaders Get Even, released compliments of Square Enix-owned Taito, reprises the classic arcade shoot-'em-up with four new levels for 500 Wii points ($5). According to the publisher, three additional levels will also be released at 500 Wii points apiece. Hudson's Pit Crew Panic, a fast-paced racing-inspired action game, also zips to Nintendo's downloadable game service, for 800 Wii points ($8).

I just built a monster GTX 280 SLI rig, so its GTA 4 and PoP all the way. I just don't know when I'll get to play them! I'm still busy with Far Cry 2 and Fall Out 3! Deadspace completely passed me by! I can't keep up!

    As always.

We both know that the PS3 is weak when it comes to multiplatform development. It is consistently getting passed over for new content and updates....or hell even entire games (read: new Destroy All Humans). Don't hold your breath for the content update. Sorry to say 360 is where it is at this generation. Play some Resistance if you want huge battles. You better all be getting Banjo Kazooie also.......possibly a better platformer than Super Mario 64.

I need to go rent those Mushroom Men games. They look neat. I can't wait to get my hands on Persona 4. That is the December title I am most looking forward to. That PoP game looks neat, but money is tight and unfortunately great games get missed this time of year.

The new Prince of Persia and Banjo-Kazooie are must-buys, and maaaybe Re:Chain of Memories, but I already finished the GBA one (which was amazing), so I might not have very much reason to buy it again.

I hate how most XBLA games seem to be starting at 1200 points now. Next thing you know it'll be 1600. It's just pure greed, especially when half of them are just ports of old games.

division_9 > This is US releases, hence why they wrote it up there. ctg867 > The replay feature was only effective with Skate because it was only a 2 minute playback. They could easily upload it to EA without much worry of memory. GTA4's replay feature seems it could go on forever, not only for some intense and goofy action, but the amount of user generated content along with machinima movies. There wouldn't really be such a supportive network to host all those videos and still keep them on there.

Pass on the remake of KH:CoM. I'm afraid It'll break my PS2 controller since I broke my GBA's L Button from playing too hard. Lucky enough I was able to beat the find boss without too much trouble.

I might get GTA4 PC since the added features seem pretty cool.

I wish my PS3 was backward compatible so I could play Kingdom Hearts, and I wish Rockstar didn't rip off the console people by making the multiplayer really weak, then upgrading it for the PC version, and then upgrading it for the paid DLC coming in February. Not to mention the PC is getting a replay system, which other console games show is obviously possible on the platform.

How to fix this? Well first off Sony never should of had a PS3 without PS2 BC, but at the very least, if they put it on the PS Store for $30, which is the price they're selling it for at stores, then I'd call it even. Seriously though, Chain of Memories came out in March of 2007 in Japan with Final Mix II for a little more then a full priced PS2 game. With all honesty, the damn thing should be $20. And as an aside, where the hell are my Final Mix versions of the KH I and KH II? I wish Square would do the smart thing and bring them stateside.

As for GTA IV, patch the multiplayer, give me more games modes, gives me more customization options, and tweak the gameplay so it's better suited for multiplayer, since at the moment it isn't. If you do that, I can let the replay thing slide, although it'd be nice to put with the DLC. That I can live with.

And oh yea, Prince of Persia is out, lol. That's on my list for next year when I actually have some money.

Whoever wrote this? is sadly mistaken about the Prince. Planning on getting that one myself Muppen. But how could they make that mistake I mean they've been covering this for months...To slip up like that...To be clear? No I'm not talking about the typo. Heck I can look past that the mistake they made is about the plot...Its a new prince its not the same prince from the prior trilogy.

No path of furon for the PS3?, get your facts right gamespot, IGN has already said that Destroy all Humans for the PS3 is just not being released in north America but is still shipping to europe and the rest of the world. Dont you just love how bad GameSpot is?, or how biased?.
