AU Shippin' Out November 10-14: World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

It's another big week of releases down under.

If last week's massive lineup of Gears of War 2, Little Big Planet, or Rock Band didn't interest you, then maybe you'll fare a little better this week. Put simply, it's another massive week for releases! There are games for everyone out this week, including World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, Mirror's Edge, Guitar Hero World Tour, Call of Duty: World at War, and much more.

This Thursday at midnight, gamers from around Australia will be able to get their paws on the hotly anticipated expansion pack to World of Warcraft, titled World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Some of the new additions found in the expansion pack include upping the level cap to 80 (previously 70), a new continent called Northrend to explore, and a new class called the Death Knight. Aside from the regular edition of the game, Blizzard is releasing a limited edition of WoW:WotLK which includes a bonus pet, 208-page art book, making-of DVD, soundtrack, mouse pad, and WoW card deck.

Set in a futuristic dystopian city, Mirror's Edge sets you in the running shoes of a messenger called Faith. With the government monitoring all communications, there's a secret group of messengers whose job it is to deliver secret messages to people around the city and avoid being caught by security forces. The story has been penned by Rhianna Pratchett (daughter of legendary fantasy writer Terry Pratchett), and the game features a unique mechanic revolving around free running, which allows Faith to pull off some pretty impressive stunts. Mirror's Edge is out on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Thursday.

The battle for consumer dollars this Christmas was always going to be a heated fight, but the war between two massive music giants is only about to begin, with Activision's band simulator--Guitar Hero World Tour--being released on the 12th. Like Rock Band, GHWT features a guitar, drum kit, and microphone for players to rock out with to more than 86 different songs. GHWT's most unique feature is its music studio, which allows budding musicians to create their own songs--note-by-note--and upload them onto an iTunes-like music store. There will be a variety of ways of buying GHWT when it comes out later this week, ranging from buying the complete band pack, which includes a microphone, drum kit, guitar, guitar pack, and finally, just a copy of the game.
