Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 Nintendo-exclusive

Next outing of Ubisoft's loony lagomorphs will only be released on the Wii and DS this fall.

While it technically starred Ubisoft's limbless mascot Rayman, the featured performers in the publisher's Rayman Raving Rabbids were without a doubt the cute-yet-criminally-insane bunnies of the title. Those with a soft spot for the freaky fuzzy critters need fret not. Yesterday, Ubisoft revealed it was working on Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. Today, the French publisher unveiled the first details about the game--which will arrive exclusively on the Wii and Nintendo DS this fall.

After holding Rayman captive in his own world in the first game, the Rabbids' plans will hit a little close to home in the sequel. That's because they set their warped little minds on ruling the Earth, and at the game's outset they've established a beachhead for their interdimensional invasion in a simple shopping mall. Not one to let the Rabbids have their way, Rayman disguises himself as one of the Rabbids and attempts to thwart their plan from the inside.

Gameplay in Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 will center on 60 minigames, which will see players go around the world foiling the obnoxious-yet-adorable invaders. For more information, check out GameSpot's hands-on preview of the game's multiplayer demo.

Rayman Raving Rabbids was a moneymaker for Ubisoft on the Wii (I don't really know about the other platforms), so it's not surprising that they would follow it up quickly with another game before somebody else comes along and steals their thunder. Strike while the iron is hot, and all.

I'd like to ask ubisoft why there creating a 2nd rayman raving rabbids game. don't you think it would be better to create a platform game starring rayman like rayman 2 and 3. although i liked the first one I dont want a whole series about rabbids.

While I love the original, and I mean love, I fear that this will turn into another mario party like series.... God I hate those games.

No surprise. The original was clearly made with the Wii in mind, and was Ubi's only success on the system (thus far), so it only makes sense.

    1. Why are minigames becoming so popular?
    2. The Raving Rabbids series should have been a Wii exclusive from the start. When the first came out, it was only talked about on the Wii. I was surprised to find out they made other console versions.... which nobody cared about.

The first game only sold well on the Wii. No wonder why it's not going on any other platform...

Ubisoft has completely forgotten about the original concept for Rabbids.

The 1st RRR was a blast in the multiplayer department but seriously lacked single player. But was an all around fun game. Now that Ubisoft's focussing on the 1 player mode the game should be better than the 1st one. Go RRR2!
