Ninja Gaiden DS Question

How do i use the Art of Inazuma to smash the boulder?

I keep using it and tapping repeatedly on the boulder, but when i'm done the boulder is still there untouched!

You just coutinously tap the boulder till it breaks

The game glitched like this for me too. What worked for me was going back to the well, breaking that boulder, then when i went back the game let me destroy the one i needed to go forward...
