Mister Slime oozing onto DS
Southpeak Games offering stretch-happy hero to North American gamers starting next month.
The slime has a distinguished history of villainy in games. Frequently appearing as a low-level enemy in role-playing games, amorphous blobs are rarely given a chance to do something heroic. That might be changing, as evidenced by THQ's upcoming de Blob and today's announcement that Southpeak is creating a positive slime portrayal of its own, Mister Slime.
Mister Slime has players using the DS touch screen to guide the eponymous hero through an adventure to protect Slime Village from nefarious opponents known as Axons. Using the stylus, players stretch Mister Slime's arms to a variety of anchor points scattered about 2D side-scrolling levels in order to get from start to finish. The game will also incorporate a multiplayer mode and make use of the DS microphone, allowing players to blow on the mic to provide an in-game gust of wind or an extra breath in underwater levels.
Mister Slime is being developed by France-based Lexis Numérique and is scheduled to arrive at North American retailers next month.
