The Bottom Line:: "Old-school"

Iron Man on the DS is the only version of the movie tie-in to no attempt too much on a limited time and budget. It is content with being an Iron Man themed overhead shooter with several nods to Geometry Wars and Desert Strike. Action is fast paced, hectic and spectacular enough to make gameplay fun and interesting. The game manages to be challenging without being too frustrating and, overall, flying your tiny Iron Man blasting soldiers and helicopters with several weapos is satisfying.

Interestingly, the game benefits from dropping the melee fighting system that was borderline broken in other versions of the game.

The few problems in the game come from being forced to scribble while using the d-pad, which is hard on hands, and the slightly boring level and mission design, which hurts more than helps the gameplay system.

Overall, a decent shooter if you're bored with Geometry Wars' abstract graphics already. Give it a shot.
