Driver is back, big time! 6.5 from Gamespot? Unfair. Driving in this game is so, so much better than in GTA.

User Rating: 9 | Driver: Parallel Lines PS2
First Driver on PSone was the game that made me hooked on that little grey box. Everything was great - cool drifting in funky 70's cars, great music, four different towns - and New York was my favourite!

Almost 10 years later, after playing and enjoying Driver 2, and not playing Driv3r, I knew Parallel Lines will make me smile again. I haven't finished it yet, The Kid is still in 1978, but I can say that game is great.

New York is the only place to drive in ( I guess ). It's big, great-looking and the streets are full! So, when you chase someone or run from the cops, you really need to give your best to avoid the traffic - I like when the job is done with not too beat-up car.

There are many things to talk about, but I don't wanna go into details. Just wanted to say that I don't understand Gamespot reviewer when he says "gameplay is passable at best", and that the game is "shameless GTA knockoff"...

"Passable at best"? Come on! I played GTA Vice City, and while the game is great too, driving a car there feels like driving a toy compared to Parallel Lines! "GTA knockoff"? Well, games are similar, but gamers know the difference - here you drive, there you kill or something using cars in the way.

Graphics and cars are great, music from the 70's is fantastic, and if you wanna play funky driving crime movie - Driver: Parallel Lines will rock you!

P.S. Maybe I'll get Driver 3 too, because it's low rating may be unfair too.
