While it's a valiant effort overall, Drill Dozer is nice but the gimmick of the drill gets old way too fast.

User Rating: 7 | Drill Dozer GBA
In Drill Dozer you play as a child jewel thief who along with her posse is out to get back her family's prized Red Diamond. The story works well, the characters are memorable the graphics are what you have come to expect from Nintendo made GBA titles. A lot of the puzzles are difficult and take skill with the giant drill you are equipped with. This drill is basically the only weapon and utensil in the entire game. You use it to climb levels, extend aerial jumps, find secrets, travel through air ducts amongst other things. You begin each level with only the 1st gear of your Drill and you must find 2nd and 3rd gear to advance in the stages. This 3 gear system works well and its very satisfying to rev up the drill to 3rd gear and just start tearing stuff up. The bad news is that all you do the entire game is use this drill, so it gets old really quick. All of the bosses have clever ways to be beaten with the drill, but by the end of the game the puzzle element of the game is gone because you know exactly what to do...its just a matter of doing it. I found Drill Dozer really cheap at Toys R Us but its getting kinda hard to find. If you have children, they will love the rumble feature of the cart and will play for hours upon hours drilling holes in walls. If you are looking for a tremendously engaging GBA classic, look elsewhere Drill Dozer will not do it for you.
