10tacle gets Ready 2 Rumble

Multinational publisher picks up comical boxing license; fighting specialists AKI developing first R2R game for "various videogame platforms."

When the Sega Dreamcast launched in 1999, one of the must-have titles for the console was Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, a humorous look at the sport of boxing. The game later made its way to other consoles and spawned the 2000 sequel Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2, but little has been heard from the franchise since.

Now it appears Ready 2 Rumble is coming out of retirement thanks to a new manager. 10tacle Studios, publishers of the GTR series and Warfront: Turning Point, today announced that they are resurrecting the license.

10tacle did not make any formal game announcement today but did reveal that the new Ready 2 Rumble game, due for "various videogame platforms," will be developed by AKI Corporation. The developer has plenty of brawling experience under its belt with games such as Def Jam: Fight for NY, Ultimate Muscle: Legends vs. New Generations, and several WCW titles.

People bashing EA are living under a rock. Have you not seen the games they've put out this year? They're great.

"will be developed by AKI Corporation" AS LONG AS ITS NOT MIDWAY MAKING THE GAME I THINK ITS GOOD NEWS. AKI has an excellent wrestling engine.

Great...EA gets a chance to ruin another gaming franchise by overseeing this project.

I am not sure if another publisher is on this, but since EA made Def Jam: Fight for NY, I would assume they are overseeing this too.

Which means that they could certainly take everything fun out of the game, then charge us for it later.

On top of that, they will force the developer to rush the game to market and then we will also have a crappy version of the game, which will then ruin the nostolgic feeling you get when you see this game title...

    Thanks...

Man I loved the R2R series... Such a fun game to play. If they can keep up the fun factor, I'll really have to consider this one.

Are we gonna see another Michael Jackson boxer like in the Dreamcast version of Round 2? Either way, I am looking forward to it.

The version on the PS1 sucked! But the dreamcast version was godlike!

When this came out on the dreamcast, I felt so cool having the most powerful console - and the effects on this game were awesome.

Today, they suck. But even with original xbox 1 graphics - this game would look good, the programmers of this game really got the best out of the dreamcast. If this was on the wii, this would be an incredible game.

EA's fight night round 3 is fantastic, but there is only so much that you can do in a boxing game, as a sequel. And that is update its graphics.
For this game to update its comic graphics to that of EA's standard, it would be a bit silly.

Which is why I think they should concentrate on a wii game, getting the most out of the fantastic wii hardware and it will be one HECK of a cool game.
