College football on the Dreamcast?

Sega of America plans to release a college football game for its Dreamcast console this year.

GameSpot has learned that Sega of America plans to release a college football game under its flagship Sega Sports line of products. The game is currently planned for the Dreamcast console, and its game engine is naturally based on the engine that powers Sega's NFL 2K series. Specific details regarding the game itself are not known at this time, but it is said that Visual Concepts is involved with the project.

When contacted regarding the Dreamcast college football game, Sega of America declined comment and was not able to discuss its release schedule beyond this summer. The Dreamcast college football game should be released this fall to coincide with the launch of the 2001 NCAA football season.
