GameSpot has learned further details on Ubisoft Entertainment's Dreamcast game Dragonriders: The Chronicles of Pern. The game is a 3D adventure/RPG based on the popular science/fiction books, Chronicles of Pern, by Anne McCaffrey. The story picks up after the world of Pern is vanquished from the evil Thread. A time of peace followed, but now D'knor, Dragonrider of bronze Smanth, can sense impending danger. A mysterious disease is depleting the ranks of the Dragonriders, and it is up to D'knor to uncover the reasons behind this latest threat to the world of Pern.
The game takes place in a 3D world filled with complex challenges, sub-quests, and puzzles. While the game's characters master various skills, their dragon must also learn new abilities. Success depends on growth and development of both the rider and the dragons.
Dragonriders, for the Dreamcast and PC, will be released sometime in Q4 2000.
