Soulcalibur Legends done and dated

Action adventure spin-off of Namco Bandai's fighting series goes gold, arrives exclusively on Wii November 20.

Traditionally squaring combatants off mano-a-mano in the fighting arena, the Soulcalibur series is in for a drastic overhaul with its upcoming Nintendo Wii-exclusive spin-off, Soulcalibur Legends. Today, Namco Bandai announced that development has wrapped on the third-person action-adventure and gamers will be able to get a firsthand look at the changes come November 20.

Soulcalibur Legends is set between the events of the original Soul Blade for the PlayStation and its sequel, Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. The third-person hack-and-slash action follows knight-in-shining-armor Siegfried as he quests to piece together the Soul Edge, better known as the epic-size sword that he's come to be associated with. Numerous other characters from the franchise turn up in the game, including the sultry dominatrix Ivy and the bushido-blade-wielding Mitsurugi.

As would be expected from a Wii-exclusive title, Soulcalibur Legends will take advantage of the Wii's much-vaunted motion-sensing controls. In addition to a single-player campaign, the game features split-screen co-op and competitive modes. Not abandoning the fighting genre entirely, the game also includes a versus mode.

    The sad thing is many retards are commenting about wii not being able to handle sc4. These morons fail to realise that anything is possible, especially when they pump enough cash into development. It basically remains in namcos hands and commitment.

    Look, i know some of you are legends in your own minds but try to remember the old (very first) gameboy. And remember the cut-down versions of titles that were originally released for home consoles being converted for it. Mortal Kombat was one of these amongst others. Again some were able to do some amazing things with the given limited functionality.

    Lastly it's all about the installer base. If the machine does extremely well people/companies will find ways to do plenty, and try to go that little bit extra. You understand?

    By the way wii sports is a load of bo!! in terms of graphics however graphics ain't everything but a eye candy - sometimes good-looking games suck in gameplay, the balance is lost. So master the ability to recognise a good title overall, not just judging on it's graphics.

    @steveguttenberg:

    Most people don't spend over $1000 a year on video game consoles.

    If you want Soul Calibur 4 so badly, why not get it for Xbox 360 or Playstation 3? I mean, you are allowed to get more than one console. I have a 360 for the graphics, and a Wii for the controls. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this game.

    It's sad that so little people care about this game. And about half of those who do are hating on it from the beginning. Then again, Namco also gave us Death by Degrees....

    Sounds cool to me, swords and motion controllers are a great combo in my book.

    So does anybody really care about the "well we can't actually do the real sequel to this series on the Wii since the tech isn't good enough, so we're making a crappy, poorly made Wii only game" that is Soul Calibur Legends? Have you seen Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles?

    Give me a break, this is pathetic. *Waits for good third party game that isn't a Gamecube port*

    JCDenton , you do know that the wii can use gamecube and has the classic controller. i dont think the wii is powerful enough to run sc4. im sure it could run a stripped down version though as psp did have tekken dr

    Gamecube had a SoulCalibur. My guess is that Namco thinks the Wiimote and nunchuk just aren't up for the job of a fast-paced fighting game.

    i hate the way the Wii gets stuck with some crappy spin off of a Soul Caliber game, this is more of an insult than a game. All Namco are saying is "No Soul Caliber 4 for the Wii, because it can't take it" It infuriates me that there are no decent fighting games for Wii.
