Dragon Seeds is an interesting game for me. It's one of those games I used to rent all the time from the video store (when people still did such things). I was very much into the whole "virtual pet craze" that was going on during the time. Tamagochi, Pokemon, Monster Rancher, and yes, Dragon Seeds.

It's really quite an obscure game as far as I know. No one that I know has ever even heard of it. It never really got all that popular (most reviews of the game will tell you not to bother with this one, to just play Monster Rancher instead.) I kind of agree, but in all honesty the game isn't that bad. So let me tell you my thoughts on it!

This is one of those games that has so much potential to be awesome, but falls so short. The idea itself is really fun. You raise a dragon from when it's young, providing it with weapons and shields, and giving it training to gradually boost it's stats. You do this in the hopes of being able to battle your way through the various tournament levels, eventually becoming the champion. That's the game. There really isn't much else. So, yes, it gets boring very quickly and that's the main problem of it. Once you win the championship, there isn't any reason to play any longer.

I only bought this game for nostalgic reasons. I sadly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I would originally say that I'd recommend this game to some of my friends who are into dragons, but despite the title, out of all the species available, only one of them actually ends up looking anything remotely like a dragon. The rest take on the appearance of all sorts of different creatures and monsters, none of which are all that nice to look at in my opinion.

It's fun to play every once in awhile for memory's sake, but certainly not the kind of game that could keep your attention for days. The one thing that this game has going for it is the soundtrack. It's really just fantastic, and it's too bad that such great music had to be used for such a below average game.
