A lot of potential in this new series

To start Dragons Dogma has an excellent Character Creation mode. The Character creation is not overly dumbed down but it is not to much either(Skyrim) and you do not end up butt ugly and named prisoner. Your characters height and weight also affect the gameplay in an obvious way that not a lot of RPGs use, the smaller lighter characters are harder to hit and have more stamina, while the larger characters are easier to hit but have more range and can carry more stuff.

then there is the pawn system which I greatly enjoyed. You create your own personal slave that will follow you every where, blurting out mindless phrases, usually repeating them such as "Tis weak to fire!". The pawn system is flawed, yet something about there stupid phrases grew on me. Also it is different, most RPGs like this would just have you create a side-kick, DD took a chance and I believe it is a great addition that will likely be copied by other games in the future. The online system is also another creative new feature, you have your main pawn that you created and can add up to two other pawns. You basically go into some portal and pick through a bunch of user created pawns, usually similar to your level, if higher you have to pay with rift crystals, which you get in ways such as other users using your pawn in there party. A lot of people complain cause there are half naked pawn girls, but there are not that many, though I will admit looks were a part of which pawn I chose but who wants to adventure with some ugly pawn. So just make your pawn not ugly, the pawns also learn on there adventures and can give you tips if they have been on the quest you are doing before with another user online. The pawn system takes chances but it is a great addition to the gaming world.

The games combat system is one of the best in a LONG time, it is like DA since you have a party mixed with DS in since you need some precision and timing, but it is also speed up. But the best feature is a grab feature, mainly used in fighting large monsters like Orcs and of course Wyvrens(quick tip, it is pointless to grapple Wyverns, way to strong!). The grabbing just makes the monster fights feel more real, and it is very satisfying to deliver countless dagger blows to an Orcs back. But grappling uses Stamina so you cannot hold on forever, and if you grab onto someplace stupid such as the monster arm they are gonna grab you and make you pay. Bows are also a good addition and shooting enemies in the head provides extra damage.

Finally DDs story is ambitious and different like the rest of the game and provides an excellent twist, the game starts off hard and gets easier as your character levels, the combat can get a bit boring after you have beaten it and the world seems huge but it is actually rather small, and walking sucks, no fast travel was a mistake but this game is different and will provide you with a solid 50-80 hours of gameplay, I give it a 9.0 because it is the first game in a new series that has amazing potential with so many great new features as long as they do not rush it or dumb it down for people who think it is too hard
