Spellsword. Is it possible?

I know MK is kinda that, but I dont want the side of a building on my left arm. Is there any vocation or class that I can just wield a 1 handed sword and not be absolutely gimped? Can I do so with MK and still do well/have fun enough to get through the game not getting rocked?

You won't have any way to block attacks, and you can't use any skills that require the shield, but you still have access to magic cannon and the other sword skills.

That's kinda all you need as a magic knight

fighter, assassin, and mystic knight can all use 1-h swords without being gimped really, though depends on your play style, equipment, levels, stats, etc. though MK is probably the only one that has actual skills that are 'spells', the other two are mostly slashes and whatnot

you could just -not- equip the side of a building :'D
