With more and more companies developing more complex and intricate RPG's for the market, it's a good relief that Dragon Quest comes along to remind everyone that you don't need to change the RPG wheel to have a fun and memorable experience that most RPG's fail to deliver these days. DQ8's story is about bringing back the king and prince to their former selves and while doing so you end up saving the whole country from the evil known as Dhoulmagus. The visuals in the game are incredible, following a cel-shaded style that has been a custum from the people of Level 5 and makes Akira Toriyama's art and design come to life. The gameplay follows the old turn-based formula that has been the staple of the Dragon Quest series, you run around town looking for the next NPC that will trigger an event and when you go outside when you roam around you will suddenly be attacked by monster's without warning much like in FFX. The sound in the game may not be memorable but delivers in giving the game a perfect ambiance as you roam around the games world. The characters in DQ8 are really a likeable bunch and they will grow on you as you move along with youre journey from you're party members to the varius people you meet in your quest to bring back the King and Prince to their former self. So all in all DQ8 delivers in all aspects making it a fun game for everyone looking for an old-school RPG that offers hours upon hours of memorable gaming.
