A must have for Sega Game Gear

User Rating: 8.5 | Dragon Crystal: Tsurani no Meikyuu GG
CONTROLS, EASE OF USE:
On a scale of 1 to 10, Controls I will put at a 7. The moving is stiff and attacking takes a bit getting use to as the game is turn based while in real-time. All of this gives a bit of a delay with attacks. Nothing to cry about, and overall functional.

GRAPHICS:
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give the game a 7 here as well. For being 1991 and on a 8 bit system I can't complain. All looks ok and animation is ok as well. Nothing cutting edge or mind blowing here. Simple effects are used for spells and certain items.

DIFFICULTY:
On a scale of 1 to 10, The difficulty varies. Dragon Crystal is a roguelike RPG meaning you die and start over; although, the levels are never the same, rearranged enemies/paths/ & items. As you get familiar the game comes to a balance of difficulty. Makes for a enjoyable experience.

Sound:
On a scale of 1 to 10, The sound gets an 8. There isn't many sounds or themes. You have game theme and menu theme. Typical slahes and attack noises are in the game. The typical 8 bit beeps & boops as well are heard. Nothing disappointing and I enjoyed the theme playing in the background through the entire game. Short tune repeating but it doesn't wear on you, very good beat.

OVERALL ENJOYMENT:
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this an 8 as well. As mentioned the game is alot of trial and error. You journey through the warp zones and area's. You eat to keep and regain health, obtain items (some help, some hurt), and gather weapons/armor. You have a simple menu to view stats and use your items. Various enemies throughout and the levels are never the same whenever you die and start back, making the experience new and new challenges as well.
Overall the game can get addicting trying to get farther and so forth.

I wholeheartedly recommend you run right out (or, I guess you're here, so why bother running right out, just click it) and buy Dragon Crystal immediately. This is definitely one of the best games to own on the Game Gear. If you love adventure or RPG games then you will love Dragon Crystal.
There are not many RPG's on Game Gear so this is a big welcome and different experience on the handheld.
